Watching numerous pundits attempting to disect this style/results dichotomy in football. Heard it numerous times now that how can 'teams like Everton' expect to compete with the 'Top 6' due to the shortfall in spending.
What I would consider to the 'standard' Everton team cost roughly £230m. The Liverpool team that pumped Roma 5-2 the other week cost roughly £250m.
Would it be fair to assume that perhaps the shortfall has been in the coaching, scouting and tactical areas of the game rather than our inability to compete financially?
Sick and tired of this money argument clouding the actual realities of the modern game.
The pundits consistently fail to address just how much money we spunked up the curtains over the past 2 years and how this is the main reason behind the animosity and frustration at the moment.
Plucky old Everton had money for a year - and we flumped it up
