Found a somewhat bedraggled and wet bumblebee in the sink. Lifted it out of the sink on a spoon and put it atop the bin. It then spent a furious couple of minutes cleaning and drying itself before flying off. Feeling rather pleased with myself now.

Took my great grandson to the park yesterday with my granddaughter and played ‘I see’ with him and it was great to see him rock back out of sight in his pram playing the game with me —-he is ten months old.

Sat with an old school mate visiting, supping beer from the best pub in our town under the shade of a wysteria pergola in beautiful sunshine, wearing shorts and a tee shirt in April. This is retirement.

Thank you to all who were working*, paying taxes to support my pension. Children will do the same for you when you're my age.

*not billionaires or the aristocracy obviously.

Saw them at St James Theatre in Wellington, a good venue. This little bald headed non-descript man came in with a toiletry bag. Couple of people asked for pics but all very low key. Next time I see him he's on stage , the lead guitarist. I've seen many bands of all genres over the years (Inc Queen, Dire Straits ) and he's the best guitarist I've ever seen. I'm rather envious of you.
