There's a fella who picks up litter on the roads around the Mons Pub in Bootle.
He walks up and down the roads with his litter grabber and a plastic bag to put the litter in, whilst taking all kinds of abuse off motorists. Always smiling, even when people throw things out of cars in front of him.
He's even put little signs up on the railings by the lights asking people not to chuck litter out if the car.
He may be madder than @Ashtonian, but what a top fella

This has made me sad now..
It's obviously a game to some of them, " let's throw an empty can at the mad man ".
However he never reacts, just smiles and puts it into his plastic bag.
He's there no matter what the weather and the surrounding roads are spotless as a result.
