You're right and your wrong there Ash.

Her stroke of luck came from being a singer from Liverpool at the same time as the Beatles hit the scene, playing at the first venues that they played at and also being mates with them. That gave her the exposure and publicity.

There was a much better female singer - Dusty Springfield, who sang what are called " Torch " songs around at the same time ( melancholy cabaret style ). Cilla copied her style of songs and piggy backed on the Beatles fame.

The reality was that she wasn't very good, but was clever in the way she " sold " herself, hence her longevity x
