minor things that make you fume

British banks .... specifically the Coop and Lloyd's.

Phone up (wait) warn them you're going to make a big purchase tomorrow to a name you've already transferred money to.
OK.
Travel 2 hours and make purchase.
Transfer blocked - "it could be fraud we are just trying to protect you" .... of course the bank (British world class service jndystry we're told) doesn't tell you this, you have to work it out when the money doesn't appear in the seller's account (obviously it disappears from your own).
Half an hour in the freezing cold on the phone ....
Bank.... you'll have to answer (absolutely irrelevant) questions so we are convinced its not fraud by our department..... tomorrow .... or sometime .... whenever we phone you, or in reality, when you phone us apoplectic.

Absolute thundering halfwits. Both accounts to be closed .... but whoever I replace them with will undoubtedly follow the same AI script. They're all barstewards.

The Menai Bridge being shut …. The other bridge is rammed … took me 45 minutes to cross over it on my home from work today…
Are you talking about the Menai or the Britannia? I suspect, as a local, you'll mean the former, but it's common for a lot of non-locals to confuse the two.

I'm planning on driving over between Christmas and NY, so I'll try to add extra time.
