I went away with my girlfriend last month for my sister’s wedding, we didn’t get that much time together as it was all family stuff so I said I’d take her away for a weekend somewhere in England.

Now she wants to go abroad and is adamant that it’s better value than staying here and is chasing me for an answer. I just can’t be bothered with the whole airport experience and it’s gone from a nice idea to a pain in the arse.

You're London-based, yes? Why not get Eurostar and do a trip to Brussels, Lyon, Avignon or Marseille?

Failing that, flying out of City is not the soul-destroying experience that Heathrow and Gatwick both are.

Thanks for the suggestions though. City airport is convenient but expensive. I used to work nearby and was stunned at how under used it is.
