The use of BCE and CE in place of good old fashioned BC and AD when denoting dates.
Who's idea is this? John Claude Junker et Al?

Hallowe'en isn't, and never has been, a holiday.

It certainly is a holiday in Ireland it is, I get a week off work (although not everyone does) and there's a bank holiday, maybe it's different in Ireland as it originated here, called Samhain (sow-in) was the day before the spirits returned to earth, it became known as Hallows Eve then later Halloween. And I love that holiday.
