It absolutely is. Trump and his followers use it any time a liberal or decent person, criticise him or his policies for instance. It has moved to mainstream use by the right wing imo.

Unfortunately we also live in the world of the professional protester and permanently offended.

So what? Trumpists and right wingers are throwing the phrase at any one who cares about anything if it does not fit their narrative. It is an easy but cheap stick to beat decent people with.

I agree its a lazy expression. And some people on the far left label people who dare to sway from their world view as racist, white supremacists and nazis rather than engaging in discussion.

I just find the whole thing depressing really, it's no way to act on either side of debate.

Absolutely, I had never really thought of it that way. Unfortunately, you have the most powerful man in the world coining the term snowflake and it appears to have stuck to his disciples

Yeah it's like "Fake news," an expression now in common usage thrown about by people who don't want to think and discuss but to shut down debate.

Unfortunately on both sides the voices that are heard and publicised are usually the extremist or shock value ones.

With all the information at hand with the Internet it should be easier to collect all the facts and opinions and make your own decision based on your personal ethos and morals however I think a lot of people just go to look at YouTube videos of people they already agree with to fuel their outrage.

Interesting times.
