Oh, and the smug, knowing John Lewis add at Christmas. I like Christmas actually, proper Christmas, i. e. family and friend time. I do however groan at being subjected to the relentless marketing fanfare from the the stroke of midnight after halloween. Black Friday, you're spot on there. What's next, thanksgiving!
The secondary school my daughter will go to, goes all out for 'prom' night too, makes me fume. Brain dead idiots fooled by marketing to spend literally £1-2K on dresses and Jimmy Choos for their 16 year olds, not to mention the limos, I despair.
