minimum 5th gets Europe...can we make it?

Chelsea have a lot of games coming up. There's a very good chance they'll drop a few points, but maybe not enough for us to take advantage. Arsenal are in great form but when you look at their side it's the weakest since Wenger took over. Spurs have looked okay in attack without Bale. Defensively they're shakey, though, so maybe.

I think we can pick up 12 more points. No idea what position that will leave us in, but it'll come down to no more than two points, maybe even goal difference (in which case, we'll never catch Chelsea or Arsenal).

That would be sad all round for us to rely on Wigan giving up their place for us to qualify. Sad for their own fans more than us. I'm happy for them making it. We can make it too, just have to finish 5th.

what fans? can you imagine how many they're going to take if they get a team in russia, will probably be less than 100

We need to look after our own house, and just see how many of the three ahead of us fall backwards. Possibly none of them will, possible two of them will. Chelsea have a nightmarish finish to the season coming, they are still to play Spurs, Liverpool (a), United (a) and ourselves. Their "easiest" remaining game is away to Villa.

They also have that monkey's arse in charge, and a huge fixture pile-up. By the time they play us on May 19th, they'll be playing their 15th game in 50 days.

It's nowhere near over. Oh yes.

after arsenal the fixtures for the weekend are:

Fulham vs Arsenal
Sunderland vs Everton
Spurs vs Citeh
Liverpool vs Chelsea

I can see Arsenal beating Fulham, us either drawing with sunderland if we beat arsenal or the reverse (can see us getting 4 points from the 2 games) Citeh should hold Spurs to a point atleast providing Bale is out, but Citeh play wigan midweek so may be tired and Chelsea and the RS will probably be a draw/Liverpool win

the bad thing is Chelsea will have 2 games in hand after the arsenal win meaning even if we beat the arse and go level on points I cant see them losing both games in hand.

yeah they have a very tough fixture list. If bale's back soon, you can probably argue they're the easiest target to catch for 5th. Can you imagine the champions league holders failing to qualify for europe the next season despite their multi million squad.

never underestimate how bad the tinkerer can make things

think we will finish 6th tbh, 5th we would need to win 90% of our matches now and draw the rest and for 4th we would need to do the same and hope Chelski and Spurs start dropping points like we did against the ****e sides. Cant see it happening though

Points wise and playing wise this has been our best season since the 80s and we could end up finishing 6th and getting absolutely nothing for it. Thats football for you i guess.

I still find it ****e that 6th doesnt get you Europa in a tough league like this, hows it fair that teams like everton/Liverpool etc could miss out regulary whilst dross like wigan or millwall could fluke a cup semi and get in just by being in the final

Tbf, Wigan beat us 3-0 on our home turf in a game that we all knew could well be a europa league play-off of sorts if we were to get millwall in the semi. Doesn't get much fairer than that.
