Hello You!

So...Lockdown. Bit of a pisser isn't it? Hopefully this'll take the edge off a bit

One off half a dozen with these now, as I have once again scoured YouTube to find some random footy highlights

This time out we're opening up with one of my favourite World Cup matches, as Italy and Spain do battle at USA 94. I love this Italy side and wish they'd won the whole thing. They deserved it, especially Roberto Baggio who dragged them to the Final with a broken body

Up next we've got one of football's most incredible upsets, as lowly second division Sunderland take it to the all-mighty Don Revie Leeds side of the 70's at Wembley. There's still a statue outside the Stadium of Light for Bob Stokeo thanks to this one.

And to close us out we've got another international match, as Hungary rock up to Wembley and give England a tremendous kicking way back in 1953

Hope you enjoyed this one. See you all soon

Great thread. Every day I'll post a boss PL / FL match (non-EFC) from that date in history.

First up, for 23 March, a proper midlands kickabout - Wolves v Brum from 1996:

I really wanted us to sign Bull, brilliant hard as nails, no nonsense forward, deserved a shot at the top flight.

Hello You!

Back again with some more random match highlights

Hopefully we can get past all this and regain some sense of normality

In the meantime though, I'll try and quench your football thirst

First up today we've got some action from the Scottish Cup, as Hibernian and Falkirk play out a sensational seven goal thriller, featuring a fantastic goal from a certain lad what looks like a thumb

Up next, we've got some international superstar soccer on the docket, with Holland taking on Argentina in a wild game from France 1998. Keep a look out for one of the World Cup's greatest goals from a certain Denis The Menace

And to close us out today, we've got a game from the 70's, as George Best shows that he can still play a bit whilst turning out for Fulham against Hereford

Thanks for joining me again on this journey down memory lane!

Arl arse terry paine, who, early on in the game before he himself ran out of puff and is subbed just catches Best. Imagine him 8yrs earlier before the ale got him.
Even 4yrs earlier but by then he was playing as a No 10 he kept United up on his own...as did Kendall for us.
Still tough as nails, shows no fear dives in on big No.5. In the 2nd half
A young Kevin Sheedy comes on and is, in that company, anonymous

In some ways I enjoy Fulham era Best more than United era Best

I think it's cool that he went there and could still deliver the goods

They were taking the pish out of Hereford at the end there

Hello You!

Let's have some more random matches eh?

I've found some interesting curio's this time out, hopefully you enjoy them

First up it's Northern Ireland taking on Roumania in 1984. Northern Ireland actually qualified for two World Cups in the 80's and did very well in this qualifying group. Roumania ended up feeling a bit aggrieved because they felt England and Northern Ireland shafted them by playing out a dull 0-0 draw at Wembley, that saw them both go through at the Eastern European teams expense, something both sides vehemently denied.

Next up I found this interesting outing from 2000, as Bayern Munich takes on Germany in a friendly game. One could argue that Bayern has been taking on the German nation for a long time anyway, so this was just the official acknowledgement ;)

And to close us out we've got another Club Vs National Team match, as Madrid Athletic take on Brazil way back in 1978. Sound isn't great on this one, but hopefully the match itself is interesting enough to make up for it

Thanks once again gang, I look forward to posting more matches soon!

Hello You!

The football still hasn't started again, and quite a few of you could be stuck in isolation with little to do, so here's some more random matches!

We start out this week with one of the craziest matches of all-time, as Swindon take on Leicester in the 1993 Play Off Final. Words cannot do this one justice, you'll just have to see for yourself

Next up, Russia and Italy bust out the orange ball for a game in the snow. England would have been playing in place in Italy if they had finished second in their World Cup qualifying group, but England ended up topping the group to send Italy to Moscow

And finally we close out with a game from 1954, as Hungary take on defending Champions Uruguay in the World Cup semi final. These were possibly the two best teams in the whole world going at it, and it's a cracker

Puskas is one of the forgotten greats of football. The guy was the best player in the world playing in two different teams (Hungary and the Madrid team the dominated the European Cup) that changed football. A goal a game for his career. If he doesn't mess his ankle up Hungary probably win in 1954 and he's in the conversation for best ever more often than he's included now and he absolutely was that good.

Nice thread Mikey. Can remember watching Italy-Spain in 94 but only remembered it for Tassotti smashing Luis Enrique's face in and getting banned for a ridiculously long time. Forgot what a great game it was. That Italy side in the early 90s was something else.

Hello You!

It's random match time! I hope everyone is well and looking forward to some great action, because we've got it right here!

Opening for us this time is a game between Sweden and Austria from way back in 1971. Sweden would go on to play in the 1974 World Cup, where they would hold the world famous Dutch side of that tournament to a draw

Up next, we stay in the 70's, as it's Pele's farewell game when the New York Cosmos take on Santos. Pele is my pick for the greatest of all-time, so this is a big one

And we close with a game from the 80's, as one half of "The New Firm", Dundee United, take on Barcelona in European competition back in 1987

Hope you all enjoyed those matches gang, I'll see you all again soon hopefully

Hello You!

It's a Play Off Special of random matches this time, as I've put together a collection of some of football's craziest matches

Up first, it's Reading Vs Bolton in a game from 1995, as madness reigns at Wembley

Following that, it's the outrageous game between Gillingham and Man City 1999, featuring possibly the loudest reaction to a goal I've ever seen

And to close us out it's a wild game between Blackpool and Cardiff, featuring a young Seamus Coleman turning out for Blackpool

Whew, I need a lie down after those games!

Given that Mikey hasn't updated this thread today I thought I'd provide you with a genuine classic.

Barca vs Real from January 1994.

Hello You!

Decided to take Sunday off, but now that it's Monday let's whip out some more random matches (Ooo err matron!)

First up today we've got a match from Mexico 86, as the hosts take on Bulgaria. Keep a look out for one of the goals. Yowzer!

Following that, we have the 1997 Champions League Final, as Borussia Dortmund take on Juventus

And to close us out this week, we've got another game from 1997, as England travel to Italy and play them off the park in their own gaff in a crucial World Cup Qualifier. This game filled a lot of us with hope going into France 98 that England might have a chance. We were wrong

Thanks all. Stay safe out there

Hungary playing a very high line with the keeper as goalie in or out / sweeper

Mate of mine still hasn't forgiven Hoddle for leaving Gazza out of the 98 world cup squad.
