I know there’s a new manager poll thread but interested in the divisiveness of this apparent appointment as per Duncan Castles.

Personally think it’s one gamble too many if it were to happen.

I wouldn't have him, I don't see him as a snake, I would rather have an experienced manager. If Silva gets sacked it will be because we are in or around the bottom 3. In that situation I think you need experience to get you out, not someone who has never managed

I'd be curious but he's unproven. Theres more to management than having been a decent player and then a coach.

Having said that he may have learned well off Wenger and Pep in he same way Mourinho learned off Ferguson.

Just to clarify: I don’t see him as a legend but he does seem to have some sort of reverence by a few on here.

....as far as I’m concerned, what he did as a player has no impact on decisions regarding his coaching ability. A manager should be judged on his ability to manage.

Now that we have a DoF, the coaching competency takes on more significance than ability in the transfer market. Arteta has built a reputation as a coach at two top clubs in Arsenal and Man City. Saying that, Everton seem infatuated with appointing ex-players as coaches rather than good coaches as coaches.

Not a legend by any means but would love him as manager. He will have more managerial pedigree having spent 2/3 seasons around Pep than the vast majority of alternatives.
