He isn’t good enough to be a starter for a team that is looking to Europe but he is a competent squad player. We need to increase the quality of the squad, we find ourselves in a position to qualify for a European spot but we don’t have the depth to take advantage of this position.

Am sat on the fence with this decision. £70k - £80k a week for an extra 12 months? Think it's a big outlay for the quality he brings to the squad at this time.

Well lets at least get Saint Seamus off the playing staff...save a few quid there

This is ok as long as a starting left and right full are bought and Branthwaite is injury free all season. And O’ Brien rotates with Tarkowski. Yeah.

I am not sure if Branthwaite doesnt already have the reputation of damaged goods...lovely player when fit but in reality we should try and get as much for him as we can. Keeping him here will cost us his transfer fee and bring us back to where we are now- resigning Keane to play alongside Tarks...

Think he's played well this season, with our seeming inability to sign full backs ,he's been invaluable at center half, arguably the most consistent???

Just read what he's said on the website. Very honest and genuinely seems to have made a connection with the club.

Had a decent season and means the scouts can hopefully focus on full backs this summer!

In an ideal world he'd be 4th choice and Tarkowski 3rd choice centre half, with O'Brien and Branthwaite playing in the league games so we can press more. If we can sign 2 new right backs and a new left back that will be the start of a transition to playing more "The Everton Way". Nobody can doubt Keane's commitment and he certainly wouldn't be first on my list to leave the club when there are players like Barry who just don't seem to care.
