2025/26 Michael Vincent Keane

thought the first half he was lost. His reading of the game is a second slower than most. However second half I thought he made a couple vital tackles. He is what he is

His positioning for both goals yesterday was terrible. When you are up against a team with the quality of Liverpool you need all your players to be on their game. I have seen comments on the goals pointing the finger at Tarks, and yes there may be some merit in what they say, if Tarks was quicker he may well have stopped Liverpool scoring. However he was making up for Keane’s mistakes, Keane is a liability that good teams will always exploit. Tarks is a good Premier League defender but he isn’t good enough to make up for the mistakes of Keane. Everton decided to keep Keane and now we have to live with the consequences and those consequences are that good players will pull Keane out of position and they will exploit the gaps he leaves. The sooner Braithwaite is fit the better but he needs to be allowed to heal and be 100% before he comes back. Everton are a much better team now than we have been for years, the new regime have moved us forward. I never expected us to get to where we want to be in one transfer window given the state of the squad. Would be have been better to miss out on one of the players we brought in and replace Keane, that is a difficult question. I am sure that no one at the club expected us to be relying on Keane so much at this stage but the big picture here is that we are examining what might have been after a 2-1 away defeat to the Champions and not the bottom three positions in the league. While I want Everton to win every game and I want derby wins home and away I recognise that we are going forward, the days of Dyche and Fat Sam are now behind us, I am looking for a reaction against Wolves and West Ham and looking up instead of down.
