2025/26 Michael Vincent Keane

Fair play, there’s going to be head in hands moment. But right thing to give him new contract going off last 2 performances. Got his limitations, but was always more a mental “thing” with him I/ most felt. Hopefully with age, not playing at goodison (god knows why but his worse games always seemed to happen there) he will get form back that got him England call ups. Looked better than tarks both games.

Got to be honest if Branthwaite gets fit soon i think it’s Tarks getting dropped not Keggers. Moyes has changed him.

We had same situation at the beginning of last season, when leaked goals for fun. Branths was injured.

I felt like Keane was the better of the two back then individually, but do you give up a duo that worked pretty well for 2 seasons?

But yeah, we conceded 2 goals in his last 4 games over 90 mins, definitely an improvement visible, if he continues that he is a very solid back up option that always is good to score a goal himself.

Michael Keane had a decent game today, and it looks like he's gained a lot of his confidence back playing under David Moyes.

Perhaps its time to just give the fella some love? He's been a jittery bag of nerves at times over the years, but massive credit to him, he digs in and comes back with some big performances. The rest of the squad seem to really like him, and whatever we've thought of him in the past Moyes seems to have instilled confidence in him.
It takes a huge amount of character to overcome being the whipping boy, especially in a league that's scrutinised to the n'th degree. I'm not suggesting he should be one of our go-to centre back pairing, but as cover he's shown his worth. Up to Jarrad to take the starting berth off him now.
Well done big Mick Kegger.
