Beaten all ends up by Rogers down the flank but was key in heading crosses away amid an early onslaught by the hosts. Beaten all too easily in the air for Watkins’ opening goal, but did recover well in the second half to win a foot race with the Villa striker and slid in to prevent an overlap on the counter.

The perfect example why a club with a thin squad and not fighting for titles, early in the season, can and should play the young, quite expensive prospect so they he learn on the job and becomes a starter then those with a consistent history of crapness can be banished.

We don’t play O’Brien in case it makes us lose, and instead the alternative (Keane) makes us lose anyway. Utterly pointless. We lose the majority of our matches anyway statistically. Cautious starting lineups are completely pointless. O’Brien and Dixon are still green doing it this way, and we still have zero points. A lose-lose.
