You have just summed up we could have let him go purchased a better cb or still used him as a bargaining chip to get a better squad player!
No, he was the better option as was FREE, vastly experienced, settled, happy to be benched, reduced wage and on his day, a very good defender - name me any one else who ticks all those boxes…..
As for bargaining chip….. he was out of contract
He now could be used as a bargaining chip for a championship player - not rocket science!

Not having him would be better than having him. Playing literally anybody over him would cover the bases better. Playing with 10 would be better. The guy is a nervous liability who drops the confidence of all around him.

The last two prem games he played he was totally sound - like literally no issues.
Trust me, I know he can be a liability but, he does have the ability. He’s a confidence player, hoping Moyes has got into him.
