Yep, should always be cautious about signing defenders from defensive teams. It doesn't show their ability to do the business for more expansive teams, therefore throws them straight into the spotlight.

Think he's been poor in almost all games bar Stoke.

Sure the crap defensive unit he is playing with doesn't help, but his individual performances have been way off.

I think he's got the tools to be a very solid defender for us. Unfortunately he's come from a team with an incredibly steady and well drilled back line who never move from their shape, to a total omnishambles. I would like someone with a bit more ability and composure on the ball, but hopefully that can be his future centre back partner.

This. He's playing mostly in a back 5, of which 3 of the 5 can't physically move and the other is either an out-of-position centre back or a non footballer.
