2025/26 Michael Keane

It was poor from tarkowski deginiteky but also poor tactically. No need for us to have 3 of the back 4 ahead of the ball at that point, O’Brien was in a different postcode.
Yeah I agree JOB was probably in the wrong position as well but it’s mostly on JT this.

They worked it well though, I think Myko can maybe stay wider and try and split them a little more - maybe drifts too central, could have created more doubt for Sarr - but it was clever play to take advantage.

He was our best defender today, playing with the calmness and assurance that got him into the England team. We need to tie him down to a longer contract, he's free to talk to foreign clubs from January.

While I guess it's technically Tarks' fault, that's literally what defenders are expected to do and why the others immediately stepped in to cover
He doesn’t get close enough though to even foul the player.

CB’s aren’t expected to press near the half way line, that’s a big part of his game nipping in and trying to win the ball but this year he’s struggling. He keeps over committing and it won’t be the first time it costs us.

Palace exploited it well though, few others haven’t been as clinical.

Tarkowski would be better off dropping off if he can’t get there though.

Didn't have him consistently outperforming Tarkowski early doors on my bingo card to be honest. Fair play.

That said - I recall many believing that us retaining him for an additional year in the summer was a mistake :coffee: turns out we'd have been goosed without him.

Same here mate, he’s been one of our most consistent players so far and has given Moyes a bit of a dilemma, as to what to do once Branthwaite is fit ( that’s something I never thought I’d write 😂)
