2024/25 Michael Keane

Just thinking...we prob need 4 centre backs next year, tark Branthwaite obrien(bonus that he can play right back) so should we offer him a year on very reduced terms? A cheap back up...
No mate....not under any circumstances.

He's literally been the worst CB at the club in the past 30 years.

Disgraceful footballer.

The simple fact is that when he plays we concede goals and lose games.

His five years with us have set him up for life.

He now needs to go and enjoy his footy in league one and take the pay cut.

Isn't Holgate due back from his loan next season? Problem solved. That is, if the problem is 'we need at least one CB who's complete shabite'.

Please god no.

Hopefully we bring in a young, developmental CB to be fourth choice.

Don't think there's anyone in the academy ready to step up?
Definitely should let Keane go but finding a 4th choice centre back may be easier said than done.

We'd want them to be cheap, comfortable with not playing much but then be competent if they are needed. Need either a young player or a utility player.

Burnley done very well here to get £30 million.

Another (average) player that we spurted way too much money.
Nar, not for me.

He had some very good games for us.

Hes been here 8 long years and gave us wonderful service.

I know, its cool to beat on Michael Keane and I really dont want him in the side atm, but I dont consider a waste of money, when you consider what the benchmark for us that is.

If I understand this thread correctly, Keane and Holgate off our books end of season? Monday just got better.

Obrien, Tarks and JB solid enough - the departure of the above leaves salary space for a younger / interested / decent CB. Got a line of decent CB's who played under Moyes (Weir, Jags, Yobo, Lescott, Unsy etc etc and Stones signing was possibly under his watch too, can't remember)- a position he knows well - trust him to pick a decent one.

Good times.

Yep, a massive Summer for us, in terms of squad evolution.

Let's hope they can get it right.
