If we’re not selling him this summer we have to give him a contract. No big deal really he’s a decent third choice CB. Can still sell him on next summer or the year after for decent money.

Makes sense, there isn't enough time to sell and bring in another defender when we have to focus on other areas. Slight pay bump with an extra year or two to protect sale value next term

Yes, if you dont sell a CB worth at least 20 million this summer, you have to extend his contract. Its a total waste to run it down to 1 next season and sell for less. If Keane plays an average season, you dont think a newly promoted premier league team would gladly pay 30 million for a proven english CB? I would definitely want to sell him this window, but if not you cant run him down to 1 year.

Sooner he’s sold, It’s not a new contract that’s an issue but the fact he’ll be given a bump in wage to an amount I doubt no one else would touch if we needed to get rid, so we’ll be stuck with clubfoot for a few more years

Probably getting a new deal because we know Koeman is interested, he's a young lad and young English defenders sell for a lot so I think this is more to do with maximising our profit than trying to keep Keane for the long term, TBF I thought he looked good after the restart

meh I feel indifferent about a contract extension, I mean he can still sign one and be sold but I feel he's very easy to be got at by basic player which can be a big problem but he also can do very well mostly when we're backs to the wall defending where he shines.
