Credit where it's due , he did well today and provided an assist to boot.
By contrast Coleman was poor.
But one game doesn't change my opinion of Coleman nor will will it on Keane.
I still believe we now have 3 superior Centre Backs in Holgate, Mina and Zouma.
If he proves me wrong and becomes a top player for Everton, I'll be made up because it improves my club, couldn't care less about being right or wrong about him.
But he won't.

Exactly this.

Nothing said of the lack of pressure on the ball because it was Coleman.

Too many have ingrained opinions on here who'd benefit from sometimes being a little more open minded instead of being almost desperate to stick a knife in.

Yes, lack of pressing lost us the game today. We were conceding too much crosses on both side 10mins leading up to the goal. Our fullback is incapable of restricting crosses and it’s been obvious for a couple of season.

Did well until that cross came in for their second, then his lack of awareness was highlighted again. Saying that maybe there's hope for him yet alongside a Mina/Zouma/Holgate.

He did well today but he was at fault for the second goal. Unfortunately at the level he is playing you can't afford to make those sort of mistakes in those areas. There certainly is a player in there but the Premier League isn't the place where you get the chance to play yourself back into form. Can see Mina and Zouma as a pair or with Holgate as a three.. I hope Keane finds his form again and plays himself back into the team. We will need him before this season is out.

Backs against the wall defending suits him. I thought he played well. That said I’d hope we don’t find ourselves in that position too often, making other choices preferable.
Not sure there was too much backs against the wall today?

He did ok. You can always pick a defender or keeper apart when a team scores against you.

He's still not good enough for Everton though!

He was good today and surprise surprise once "Jags" wasn't near him he did better.

Can't fault for the 2nd because you don't give Neves all the time in the World to put that ball on a plate.

Seriously it's a new season, let's forget last year and give him a chance

I'm all for the rehabilitation of Michael Keane. Hopefully having to fight for his place will awaken something in him. Much better today.

I’ve been reading this forum for a while, and I have to say you lot are mental.

Look at the pressure on the crosser. Or absolute lack of it.

Look at the quality of the ball. It’s a good one.

The movement of the striker. Pretty good.

Holgate’s position. Not great, Keane has to watch the man running off Holgate too.

Where’s the shout or tucking in from his left back?

You lot have it in for Keane. Absolute nonsense.

You make some very valid points. Can’t say a word against Seamus on here, but he consistently fails to prevent crosses coming in (as does Baines).

Yes, it was a quality cross, but you watch Keane.. he’s touch tight as the ball is crossed, but then completely takes his eye off his man & is drawn to the ball, which he misjudged. Absolutely horrendous defending! He did OK for the rest of the game, but completely undid it with that error.

Basically that.

Sure we should have closed down the ball but that barely happens with us. lol

But all he had to do was stay tight to his man and the ball would have hit him in the face. Jimenez didn't even move much he just took 2 steps back and Keane had no idea. And that isn't the first time a defender has completely lost Keane. He has absolutely no awareness of players around him in the box. He knew he was there as he touched him and got close to begin with when the ball was played out.

He did play well.

But I can't help but think that's because we had our backs to the wall and were sitting deep.

In games where we will want to take the impetus, see plenty of possession and push high upfield, he should be nowhere near the starting XI.

Scenarios like today suit him.

Excellent today. The cross for the second was just quality and the defence was going to face so many once we went down to 10 that there was always the chance one would catch us out and Keane unfortunately got caught under it. Unlucky, but a good showing overall.
