..I think this is a point worthy of consideration and one made a few weeks back by @bluestevon. It's the point I make about getting the blend right. Gueye is tremendous but a Schneiderlin/Davies or a Schneiderlin/Klaassen axis might be more effective.

Going to get shot for this but..... Schneids/Ross (when on his game) would be great.

To be fair it's the only reason United are in the Champs League this season. I'm with you to an extent, we need a striker, we need a number ten that can move the ball. I still think we've only just started though. I do think we'll come good.

I thought RK's tactics were spot on. Boring yes, but it was very unlikely we would get beaten with a 3-5-2 and a midfield of Baines, Schneids, Klassen, Gueye and Davies, and Rooney dropping when needed, to bring em forward.
It would have been a concern that they still got through the middle too easily at times.
Having both Davies and Gueye scrapping around the sideline for a lot of the game is not going to cut it. Without pace (without Bolasie and Colemen) there are huge limitations.
Thought Baines positioning and play on the other side was class, as usual. Other players linking with him going forward wasn't that great though. But maybe they were more worried about getting exposed. Good to see Jags out there again, god bless him.
But a holding type game was what the team needed for the massive games against the top six coming up.
They did the job. Good on em. Mon the blues.

Both do different jobs though. It's hard to take one out ahad of the other. I get yer point. Just wouldn't like to make that decision.

Y, def the key question. (apart from who to bring in - striker, LCB and pace out wide).
What happens if RK gets Sig. Does Klassen and Davies (just about our best two players) just sit on the bench.
Or is he thinking of playing Sig at 9.
I want to see Klassen and Davies both start through the centre with the 6 behind and the 9 in front.
But is fecking risky asking Schneids or Gueye to do all the covering.
Do Davies and Klassen together have vision/anticipation to read who drops to support the 6. Their intent/instinct is to attack.
If Schneids/Gueye morphed you have the complete 6, we'd be sweet, but then again he'd probably be playing for Barca or Real.

Looking at the formation last night I think Rooney or Klassen should have dropped to the large hole in front of Gueye and Schniederlin. The Front five and Back five simply didnt link. When they did they pulled the opposition defence forward leaving a hole for DCL to run into.

They remimded me of the mighty blues under Moyes, keep it tight and try and nick one. never worked against the top 4 and they never looked like winning the tie but made it tough and didn't get thrashed, which was probably their aim coming into it.We have all seen enough pre season games to take no notice of what other prem teams are doing and our boys will rise to the challenge in a weeks time, bainsey looks in great nick and some of the kids add the energy that the players that look a bit short are lacking.

The worry Eggs is that if we struggle to break down that team how are we going to do when the like of Stoke and WBA set up camp?

That's where you need more time together to build chemistry and work out the intricate moves you need to break down teams like that.

This was like playing a team fighting relegation, except in July and August. PL teams don't usually bunker like that until at least Christmas.
