"We've published the latest annual figures for officers placed on the barred list following a conduct hearing between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024. The number of regular police officers (excluding members of the Special Constabulary) placed on the list was 593, compared with 394 the previous year.

The barred list is used by police forces and some other public bodies to ensure someone who was dismissed can no longer work in policing. This includes individuals who decide to retire or resign during an investigation. It is publicly searchable using an officer’s name.

While the majority of officers dismissed were police constables (519), the barred list applies to all ranks, with two chief officers added this year. "

Makes you wonder what the real numbers are, and how many slip through the net and resign and don't get barred so return to back practice in bad faith a couple of years later. 'one of the lads, a good copper, you want him backing you up' etc...

I don't want to start a new thread so thought I'd drop this in here. The case has publicity in NZ with her being a top Aussie footballer.

I'm no fan of hers, never heard of her before tbh, but this strikes me as a cornerstone case. There's so much to unpack in this case imo. This is quite a low level offence, tbh I didn't realise it could be tried in a Crown Court. Then there's the PC - come on, cops on the street see and hear so much and yet this leaves him. in his own station, feeling "harassed alarmed or distressed"? Snowflake or genuine?

A very interesting case imo. I'm still forming my opinion on this and am interested in what others think.

What's he complaining about, which part is false, that he's white or stupid. This is an operation in public relations, and she's a footballer and a role model so is due a bit of treatment eh lads...

Sounds like she was treated like anyone else would be if they puked in a cab.

If that was a white footballer calling a black police officer "stupid and black" they would be crucified in the media.

The sympathetic slant tells quite a tale.

While it's fair to a level scepticism about how much it's impacted the officer, I do believe (if you've watched the video) to have some scepticism about her defence.
