Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I chose the salad over the offered mushy peas. Love me a bit of coleslaw and chips.
The tartare sauce looked OK. Was it home made. ?

There's a pub near me makes amazing tartare. I took my mates there when they came down to see me last year. I normally have the mussels when I go there but they both had the fish and chips. I could have died when they both asked for tomato sauce?

In hindsight I should have asked for a doggy bag for the tartar sauce.

All this talk of food is making me hungry. I'm having Angus sirloin steak, which I'm going to cook on the BBQ, although I'm not having a BBQ as such if that makes sense. Just steak, French fries and onion rings. But not too many French fries obviously. So catch you later.

Yes home made tartare and it was lovely.

Steak, chips and onion rings- you are a man after my own heart Fred. Enjoy fella.

Ok...I admit it....I don't even do coleslaw at BBQs. I do a mean potato salad (apparently) but I don't even eat it.... Goes down well, unlike the copious green salad my wife always does that nobody wants ?
‘I don’t do grass’ as one of my mates says.

Peas (in all forms) are one of the few green foods that I like, also broccolli and sprouts on a roast dinner.
I don't eat green salad stuff, not even on a kebab (onions and tomato only) I always tell them "No lettuce or cucumber please, I'm on a diet"

Oh I speak mostly in jest Roydo but it was good craic while it lasted.

How are you today mate?

Not bad mate. Me, the eldest, and his GF went to Mums, so she could meet the GF for the first time earlier. She, GF, is utterly delightful. And they announced they are both off to NZ in November on a 2 year work visa. So I am thrilled for them. No job or house lined up yet, but they are utterly arsed!

One of those moments. Me mum (87) was at first sad, she loves Oliver, and they have a lovely relationship. She asked me how I felt. I said that if Oliver is happy, then so am I. Then she said if you are happy, then so am I then.

IMO, the best thing you can give kids is independence, and wings.

Agreed.
Give them a can of red bull and kick 'em out on their 16th Birthday. lol

Many moons ago, when Oliver was 13/14 ish, he was given the opportunity to go to Oz with his mate, whose parents were emigrating to. Then the 2 of them would fly back on their own. Was about 6 weeks all in.

Cost me a few bob, but the travel bug bit him deep. He is totally unfazed about rocking up in Wellington with no job and no flat. "Will have them before we leave I reckon, if not, Air B&B till we get sorted."

Just makes me feel great.

I have a work colleague whose son has just went to Bali for a year but wants to see if it could be a permanent thing. She is breaking her heart over it, like almost grief.

The idea of my own lads not being local to me actually makes me feel a bit ill.

You are right of course though, you have to give them their own choices and space.
