Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Sounds like a plan, I have gotten used to call you Messy and I do like being called Sassy too. Even if we don’t use it to address each other, Im glad to know your name and to getting to know you.

I will be here to receive any updates and to be here as a friend. You and your positive attitude always warm my heart. X

I've just realised autocorrect has changed how I wrote your name from Liliana to Lillian what a plonker I am!!

I think maybe we should put my health updates in this thread so that the mental health and depression thread doesn't get as cluttered sometimes conversations get intertwined and I'm worried someone might get missed.

No worries it is the same name but in English so I am not at all offended. And btw autocorrect is always a challenge for me as it gets confused with my language exchanges so at times it tries to autocorrect a word that I’m meaning to write in Spanish. Technology can’t live without it but at times I wish we could lol

I had thought that having your own thread to give us updates would be good but I didn’t want to put you in a position that you weren’t comfortable with. You giving us updates here would be appreciate specially for those that don’t visit the depression thread but still want to express their support towards you.

I was wanting to start one a few weeks ago but didn't know how to title it so this killed 2 birds with one stone so to speak. I will still visit the depression thread to try and help out but this just gives people a better chance of being heard when they post.

It's good you speak multiple languages but yes I can see how autocorrect will have its mind blown. I wish we could live without it but it has opened so many doors. The world just needs to learn how to use it properly.

Hi I'm @messymascot aka Karl. I was diagnosed with a cancer called mesothelioma in 2019 after nearly 10 years of illness. Unfortunately this is an incurable type of cancer which is caused by asbestos exposure. I'm now entering the final stages as the cancer has grown and is starting to cause complications. Anyone who regularly visits the mental illness and depression thread is probably aware of parts of this story.

Anyways onto the thread title. Several members who visit the above thread, which I can't endorse highly enough both the thread and the regular visitors, wanted to get together and get me a ticket for the match. This was very much appreciated by me but initially I wasn't sure due to my health. However in the meantime @Earwigjoe contacted the club. They then kindly offered to supply 2 complimentary tickets. The 2 tickets were confirmed with myself today and one of my fellow West Cumbrian blues has agreed to travel with me and utilise the other. I will try to remember to take some photos and post them in here but I'm not the best at that sort of thing.

I want to use this thread to highlight what a truly great club we support as it would have been easy for them just to let the lads and lasses pay for the tickets. But I especially want to thank all the people who regularly post in the mental illness thread as they are truly magnificent. I first starting using the thread 3 or 4 years ago when I was going through a tough patch but since then I have been in the thread on a regular basis and there is always someone in there who wants to support another blue who has fallen on hard times. The clubs gesture and the fans in that thread and this forum are what make me proud to be an Evertonian. I love you all even the ones I don't always agree with. COYB The best team we could ever support. I'm glad I was chosen even though being 40 I don't remember the glory days of the 80s.

Sorry if that went on a bit but I needed to get it off my chest.
No need to apologise Karl mate, all the best in your ongoing fight and thoughts with you and your loved ones, enjoy the day and whatever happens keep smiling even if our team try to tarnish the occasion ;)Here's hoping for a good performance and some much needed light relief for you:)

I've only been to Goodison once before and that was in the * season when we beat West Ham 2-0. So we either have 100% win rate with me there or it never happened. I'll let the forum decide.

I know he's been bashed from pillar to post recently but I really want to see James play. I fear this is unlikely.

I can't boo. I believe encourage not discourage. I sometimes have to hide from the forum when we lose as the negativity gets to me. However I understand your sentiments as they can be very frustrating. Last time I went it was a partially obstructed view so I knew I could hide behind a pillar if it got too bad. We actually played well that day and should have won by more than 2.

If Richarlison plays well it might be sufficient compensation for James not playing. 3-1 is my prediction Richarlison 2 and Doucoure.

I think you might just get your wish of seeing James as crosses into DCL will be exactly what Burnley want us to do. We will have all the ball and it’s up to us to be creative and find the way through. No better man than James for that.

Enjoy every damn second pal.
Stay strong xx

Messy im glad you're able to go and glad the tickets have arrived. Jessica is a wonderful girl and all credit to her for sorting this out on such short notice. Many of us have been hearing from you for years and you've always been there in the depression and mental health forum to listen and offer your help to others so its only natural so many of your FRIENDS wanted to show their appreciation. Magic.webp We are a special club. We always have been with special fans like you - we're a family. I know you're going to have a great day so take plenty of photos and share them with us. Goodison, Monday night under the lights with 40000 of your brothers and sisters. Enjoy yourself Messy we love you brother. God Bless.
