Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Interesting stat

How long its taken Everton to reach 21 points over the last four seasons.

2022-23: February 12th
2023-24: February 18th
2024-25: February 24th
𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱-𝟮𝟲: 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝗻𝗱

Great progress, David Moyes is building. 💪🔵
And a good young spine to the team as well with O’Brien; Branthwaite; Garner; Armstrong; Iroegbunum; Ndiaye; Alcaraz and Barry all 25 or younger.

Can you see enough momentum building to actually topple the government?
Honestly? Yeah, if it comes to it. The current corrupt bunch seem to be quite afraid of the turnout and response - they expected a thousand or so people but got 20-40k first time (a week ago) and easily over 100k in Sofia alone the other day on the repeat. At the moment they're trying every tactic they have but no one's responding afraid or with any obedience as they expected.

What we need is a reform of the judicial system as the two we're protesting against control all of it - both Borisov and Peevski are well known criminals, as Ms. Daly puts it very well in front of the EU Parliament here 5 years ago and it's even truer now, and they get away with literal murder. The protest had their cronies (paid football ultras) making a scene, attacking the GERB (Borisov's party) headquarters and burning stuff inside it... the building was left unlocked and wide open, while the police were 20 meters away literally watching and doing nothing. Some absolutely disgusting videos have come out too - policemen shouting "back down, our guys are arriving" and some masked individuals (as I said above) coming in and beating up a police car randomly parked in the middle of nothing... also one of the oldest rustiest pieces of junk we have, "randomly", as the police got an overhaul by BMW and Skoda recently.

Many more examples anyway as you can imagine. I hope we don't have to resort to some kind of violence, but at this point, it's not out of the question...

Very unsettling times for you to be living through. Hopefully a more liberal and equitable regime quickly gets established.

Live and hope. We'll see, but definitely more interesting times and generational events (of which I am a bit tired being a part of FFS!).

And sorry to derail the feelgood factor of the thread - it was just something that restored a bit of faith for me, in a way.

Hope everyone's well also, as I rarely check back in here, regretfully.

It doesn’t derail it in the slightest, I for one find it fascinating. One day you will look back at all this and be glad you were alive to see such times.

Good morning all on this damp one here ,I hope all are well and the situation for @DualityNSNO improves quickly and for the better. Not much happening here other than the bi-weekly visit to a supermarket or two . I agree with AT that the thread benefits from variation although the back slapping is nice to give and receive . It is nice to learn from each other on here as no looks down their nose or gets on a pedestal .
We started watching "Say nothing " series last night but it was too much ,the benefit of tying together headlines I read with actual facts was good but the violence was may I say shocking . I was intrigued with the mindsets of both sides but no more thanks .
Have a great day all COYB

In a way, I know, but I'd much prefer a time without a new problem every day or two. Can't pick and choose like that though, I suppose.

@blue1948 I hope it does. It's not that it's absolutely horrible/unliveable in or anything like that, if anything I'm one of the people who are better off overall, but it's not about me, it's about everyone. I'm not usually one for protests and things like that personally as I know I'll give into some escalation most likely and do something stupid and ruin my life, but I go with the idea to watch myself and to more importantly provide a voice, as in the back of my mind the famous Martin Niemoeller quote occupies a decent enough chunk - "...then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me".

Edit: This wasn't meant to be such a dramatic post, hahah

Political protest is nearly always about the future rather than the here and now. I have been up to my neck in it over the years and totally agree that it is very easy to get caught up in the emotion and end up lifted for something. That’s what they want though and don’t lose sight of that. It is much harder to suppress a peaceful assembly and the optics of trying to do so will always swing things in your favour. Make your voice heard but be sensible.

They made the most pitiful attempt to frame it as some aggressive gathering - sent out their own paid actors (and paid police) to "serve and protect" - locked up for 24hrs a bunch of randoms for no reason assuming nothing, but to their dismay the people are currently suing them for abuse of power, while the "rioters" who burned bins and threw fireworks and whatnot at the police were just observed, by the police and the fire department, from very up close. All of this is caught on camera too, which is fantastic.

I hope this doesn't escalate further overall, but I'm also very aware it's inevitable to an extent...

All sounds very familiar and I agree that it will all come to a head eventually. Disappointingly it isn’t getting much mainstream attention over here.
