Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Tell me about it! I spent years as a Union rep arguing about reasonable adjustments. It isn't just a fancy mouse or a nice chair!
We are now contracted as home workers. Our place of work is home. I have been into the office about 5 times since March 2020.My employer hasnt got the space to fit us all in so gave us the option to change our contracts. I think it will be good if Farage gets in (although I'll be retired by the next election) and tries to impose office working
Why be so in favour of office working Anj? Beyond an occasional visit for face to face meetings I don’t think it’s necessary at all for most people. The level of technology for video meetings etc has negated the need for it really.

Morning all, after a few gloomy, wet days recently we’ve got some sunshine breaking through. We’ve got youngest son, his wife and three year old grandson coming up later for the towns annual “ Christmas Kracker Parade”, should be fun but usually I’ve avoided it in favour of the footie.
I also came across this interesting map this morning. It’s all relative of course but the Moray Coast area is one of the best in terms of sunshine, but often 5 or. 6 deg C lower than down South. You can see the stretch of Yellow where we are in the far north.

I can only presume heavy rain washed the rest of Ireland off that map 🤷‍♂️

I realise I expressed myself very badly there. I love home working! What I meant to say was my home working contract will be good if Farage gets in and tries to force people back to the office because my place of work is officially home. As to why the powers that be are so wedded to office based work I think it is all about control- they can't have people actually trusted to work without being micromanaged. Also, there's a lot of office and town centre shop rents that Farage and his ilk would hate to see go down the pan becausetheir noses are firmly in that trough. We can't have all these multi millionaires/hedge funds etc losing out on their profits. Our little High Street has boomed since COVID - there are couple of cafes and a deli that do really well out of home workers. These dinosaurs don't want to change the status quo.

NICS and business leaders are so Belfast centric in their decision making it is embarrassing. As you pointed out, local towns have thrived with office workers now home based. The constant sniping to ‘get people back into Belfast’ is maddening to the provincial towns. Narrow minded selfish thinking is all it is.

Do you think Farage could actually get elected? The prospect of it has already been examined by a few Irish journalists.

As others are said Copenhagen is super. The last time we went we were actually on a cruise that started there and also took in Tallin, which was really quaint and well worth the visit. We also had two days in St Petersburg, and stops in Helsinki and Stockholm . Enjoy your trip when it comes.
Sounds like a great itinerary- I would have loved to have seen St Petersburg

I don't know.I hope not but I think that Reform will ultimately fall apart. Much like UKIP they are very good at agitating but have no actual policies, other than stopping small boats, and when they are required to do something, they have no idea. How they so much air time is beyond me. I read something today that in the nine weeks Question Time has been back on TV, Reform (5 MPs )have had a panel representative on 5 times. The Green Party (4 MPs) have had one person on the panel in that time.

BBC has never been a neutral broadcaster but always has had a right wing tinge. In BBC NI there is an unelected individual, a ‘community representative’ who is never off the airwaves. He perpetuates hate and division, like Farage, but is given a weekly platform.

I wish I could agree with you about Farage and Reform Anje but I fear that you are wrong.

There is a huge reservoir of anger and angst in the country and I get the feeling/ belief that the country is divided exactly along the same lines as America - the parallels are uncanny perhaps even created - and I can't shake the feeling ( unbelievable as it is ) that Farage will succeed at the next election.

Fortunately that is some time away and much can happen between now and then. If the election was next month I have no doubt whatsoever that PM would be PM.

Until relatively recently I think that the BBC has had a deserved reputation for fairness and transparency.
Contrary to you AT I think that a left wing bias is becoming evident.
As y'all know I despise Trump but the editing of his Capitol Hill speech was absolutely disgraceful.

I agree about Trump's speech. Disgraceful and stupid. Why edit him? The unedited things he says are utterly appalling.

Yes that's true but the splicing of 2 sections 50 minutes apart give more than the impression that he was inciting violence.

I've not heard the whole speech but I would be very surprised if he was as explicit as the BBC made him sound.

Going to Russia ( and China ) has never appealed to me. I have no interest in visiting countries which are ruled by fear and oppression. For that reason I've also decided to go to give the USA a miss whilst the Orange one is in residence.
Same here with regards to USA. Ive never fancied Dubai or any of the UAE states for their human rights records and the way women and LGBT people are treated.
