Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi all. I hope you are all having a good night. I've just watched a really good interview with Jake O'Brien on Sky Sports. It was about how he manages being a professional footballer and a Type 1 diabetic. I had no idea he had that condition.
It's still raining here. Supposedly easing off tomorrow but by the end of next week we've got sleet forecast. Brrrr!
I don't know if I told you about my new line manager. I had a lot of run ins with him when I was a Union rep. Basically he's bone idle. Surprising nobody, he has not changed. I've never known anybody get away with doing so little. I just get on with my work and say nothing. However two of my teammates independently rang me today to have a moan about him. I feel vindicated.
How good was Seamus last night for Ireland? I was so happy about that
Sorry about your car @Val P . Absolute nightmare I always think you can't do anything about it either and garage could quote you anything from £1 to £3000 and you would have to say yes, that's fine!
Have a good weekend all x

My specialism now is employment law and your line manager and their ilk keep me very busy. It’s a minefield with literally every case being unique.

NICS has now made it policy that 40% of your working pattern must be office based. In context, NICS is selling off it’s estate so office attendance will be a question of booking desks in many places.

I’m employed at this time to argue cases on whether a person is disabled or not under the Disability Discrimination Act. Equally Act (2010) is not applicable here. To extend that, the legal concept of reasonable adjustments is so misunderstood by employers.

You will be fine, my daughter went to Uni in Denmark almost everybody spoke good English, be prepared for the prices, it’s a great city the Danish people don’t pay anything for University Health care and a bunch of other stuff.

We had a great week there make sure you get a bike everyone is on one,

Enjoy
Thanks for the tip - I bet she had a great time living there

I know! I’m glad I have mr P to verify that it needs doing and I’m not being ripped off. As I use it so little now I keep thinking I should get rid and we can manage with one but I’ve had it nearly 13 years from new and I’m so attached to it as daft as that sounds.

Thanks I’m looking forward to it very much, I fancied Tallin too but it seemed to be quite small
Have a great time in Copenhagen ,put a tennis ball in your mouth when speaking Danish and you will do well . Tallinn is lovely and quaint , there is a Russian cold war mueum in the centre ,don't go unless you are ready for bed ,the most boring thing we ever did .

I do love to find bits like that to put on here ,the truth is not the point it is just for fun .I love it for the caveats from @Barnfred 55 ,an authoritive view then "in my very none expert considered opinion."

Good morning all on this whitish one here .We have had the deer walking past and now the birds . I hope all are well and had a great night . @Val P it is the pricing that gets me under the bonnet but things like the aircon are not for us folk you need specialised equipment and a brain .The prices do scare me ,when I worked I could always do extra for extra income but that is no longer possible so bills do frighten me ,luckily doing a bit helps .
Have a great day all ,here are some of our visitors ,sorry the pic is not up to the standard of others on here .it is from afar and through the window .1763188364090.webp

Loved the discussion earlier. As a Republican, actively working to reunify Ireland, its brilliant to read this historical context.
Oh absolutely no doubt that there is a different "Cornish identity " - they deffo feel an affinity to the celts in Scotland, Wales and Brittany - but the thought that they could sustain themselves economically is for the birds.

Tell me about it! I spent years as a Union rep arguing about reasonable adjustments. It isn't just a fancy mouse or a nice chair!
We are now contracted as home workers. Our place of work is home. I have been into the office about 5 times since March 2020.My employer hasnt got the space to fit us all in so gave us the option to change our contracts. I think it will be good if Farage gets in (although I'll be retired by the next election) and tries to impose office working

As others are said Copenhagen is super. The last time we went we were actually on a cruise that started there and also took in Tallin, which was really quaint and well worth the visit. We also had two days in St Petersburg, and stops in Helsinki and Stockholm . Enjoy your trip when it comes.

Morning all, after a few gloomy, wet days recently we’ve got some sunshine breaking through. We’ve got youngest son, his wife and three year old grandson coming up later for the towns annual “ Christmas Kracker Parade”, should be fun but usually I’ve avoided it in favour of the footie.
I also came across this interesting map this morning. It’s all relative of course but the Moray Coast area is one of the best in terms of sunshine, but often 5 or. 6 deg C lower than down South. You can see the stretch of Yellow where we are in the far north.
