Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, bright and chilly here. Have been invited to a talk on Peterboro Old Contemptibles at the museum this morning which, I have to admit, isn’t really my thing. Mr G’s friend is part of a group which is organising an exhibition on the O.C’s and it came up in conversation that my grandad had been an O.C, hence the invite, so it would have been rude to turn it down. Wish me luck.
Have a good day, all.💙

Good luck with this Gwladys, you’ll be fine and I’m sure will have a very receptive and appreciative audience.

Morning guys. I'm home. Home to a TV that won't power up. I've tried the usual quick fits but seems I have to accept it's just buggered. I have a decent sized one in my bedroom but you need a degree in electronics to fix all the different elements such as Sky Box, DVD, sound bar etc. Plus I had my mates Amazon Prime uploaded to this one. I'll get around to it this afternoon.

Plus Peter, my neighbours son, forgot I was coming back yesterday and hadn't switched the heating and hot water back on. Heating I can probably still do without. He's in Truro dog sitting because mum and dad are on a cruise and his sister is on a double shift. So we were to speak this morning to talk me through turning it back on but it really is the most complicated heating system ever invented and I'd rather not touch it really. But I can't do without hot water until tomorrow when Peter get's back.

Problem number 3. My mobile phone charger is knackered. I used it yesterday on the train and must have damaged it in some way, maybe stretched it. It's charging now, very slowly, but I'm scared to touch it before it's fully charged in case I can't get it working again. So I've not been able to speak to Peter yet.

So I've been spending a bit of time listening to a couple of the vinyl I've accumulated whilst I've been away. The first one I've listened to has a flaw on one of the tracks. It is a special edition pressing {and comfortably my most expensive purchase} that weighs significantly more than your standard vinyl, so I'm not sure if I need to adjust the weighting on the cartridge. I'll see if anybody else is having a similar problem, but I won't be able to replace it as it's a limited edition. Luckily it's on my least favourite song on the album and I have another pressing of it.

So, has anything else happened. Oh yes, I decided not to do a shop in Falmouth last night, just pick up a pastry for breakfast this morning. I intended to pick up some supplies at the local village shop to see me through until Peter takes me on a big shop early next week. This of course includes my posh sausages which I always have for Saturday lunch. Closed. A bereavement in the family. So it's scraping what I can from stuff in cans and the freezer, which sadly isn't much. Beans and sausage on toast for lunch today and tomorrow. And Iceland chicken tenders for tea. Might have some Iceland Spring rolls for tomorrow night otherwise it's chicken tenders again.

I thought bad things were meant to happen in three's. Well at least I slept in my own bed,

Morning everyone,

AT have a wonderful weekend and bring us 3 points please.

Fred , glad you are safely returned to the bosom of your our bed.

And all my other friends I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Funny old day yesterday. The weather gods played ball and I didn't get drenched at the funeral.

Interesting choice of music though , started with Are you lonesome tonight and ended with Rocking all over the world.

It was a service by a celebrant and mercifully completely different to church services that I've been to.

Also managed to get to see my mate in Allerton albeit for only 5 minutes. He has been in and out of the Royal with kidney problems and boy I was totally unprepared for how he would look. It wasn't pleasant unfortunately.Sorry

All in all quite a sad day but finished ok with a couple of pints of Guinness down the cricket club. I bailed out early to enjoy a superb Chinese cooked by Mrs J but the cricket team were only just getting started , good job they've no matches for 6 months!

Have a lovely day everyone.
We had a celebrant for our Mum’s funeral, as far as these things go it was a lovely service - he did a brilliant job. Sorry your friend isn’t so well, you can never prepare yourself for the shock of seeing someone who is very ill.

Hi folks. I didn't get to the gym yesterday- we had an unexpected little visitor for the afternoon. Unfortunately his Mummy and Daddy had caught a sickness bug and were throwing up all night. They got no sleep so asked could Frankie come to ours while they had a sleep. Both are much better today.
So I did overtime this morning and then went to the gym, cardio and swimming. I am so out of practice. My legs are properly aching🤣.
Its been a gorgeous day, one of those bright, sunny but cold autumn days. The autumn colours on the trees are lovely. Made Zanzibar king prawn curry for tea - life is good! Have a lovely night everybody and enjoy Liverpool @Armaghtoffee x

Morning everyone,

Did you remember? Fall back.

Anyway late one last night as me and Mrs J went to the Suzanne Vega gig at the Phil.

It was tremendous until she wrecked Tom's Diner with a terrible version but that's another story.

Well not only did I not see @bigjonny but I can categorically say that I wasn't sat next to him. Noooo I was sat next to the most annoying Kopite gobshite who was periodically watching the RS match ( sans sound fortunately) throughout the concert. When the game finished and he turned to his partner with a pathetic sad face I gave him the biggest grin I could muster.

Lovely to see the sun at 7 am today and hopefully the sun shines on the Hill Dicks later and we get 3 points against one of our many bogey teams.

Have a lovely day everyone.

@Armaghtoffee how's it going so far fella? Prenton Park , wow. Only been the once and it was for a night game and dark so I didn't see how bad it actually was.

@anjelikaferrett well done on getting back into the gym , first day back is always horrendous.

@Gwladysover , kudos on the speech , despite my job and appearances in court I always hated public speaking and got very nervous.

@blue1948 great that Mrs B is back home , hopefully bossing you around and soon restored to full health.

Anyone heard from @peteblue and @Terrarian recently?

Really enjoyed it jazzy. Friendly bunch and I’m glad they got a point out of it despite being outplayed. I was asked a few times why I was there which did make me smile- can’t be many travel for a League 2 game.

Thanks to @bigjonny and @larbert toffee for the travel advice. Easy found from Lime Street underground in the end. Cheaper train tickets than at home as well.

It was great to hear the old songs bar the one you mentioned, I got a bit emotional when she started with Marlene , it was like the last 40 years had disappeared. That’s one of my small stash of 10” singles.
