Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hello all. We had a lovely weekend in Nottingham. Its was crazy hot though. We didn't do a lot but it was nice to spend time with Chris and Sophie. Our cat was very happy to see us when we got home.
We are being entrusted with Frankie on Tuesday, he's having a sleepover! I feel certain that no matter how well he sleeps, Mr F and I will not get a wink of sleep due to being hyper-vigilant 🤣.
I am sad about Dom leaving. His fitness problems over the last couple of years have really affected him. I can only wish him well wherever he goes.
I was due to be back at work tomorrow but my sick note has been extended for two more weeks. I'm starting to feel a bit guilty for being off for so long but I've always had a very good sick record (which is just luck really. In all my years as a union rep I have only encountered two people who were playing the system) so I'm trying to do what I'm told!
It looks like it's going to be a scorcher tomorrow- even in the north east. Stay hydrated my lovelies x

Well Sunrise has just formally taken place and the temperature is starting to rise. This will be one of those days where we will be thankful our cellars keep the house nice and cool. But just in case I will be taking Kay out in the car this afternoon for a few hours to make certain she doesn’t overheat.
Speak to you all much later……

Good morning all on this lovely day here ,I hope all had a good night and have a special day . I too will check out what Stewart has said as it hasn't hit the press over here . We miss our cellar @peteblue as we could store lots of things that are too hot in the house now ,such as veg ,preserves and the whole years consumption of garlic .
Sad that Dom has gone he seems a nice lad but one thing coming out is the old boys attitude is not on the agenda with TFG and long may that continue ,a business not someplace everyone is safe .Earn your keep or out .I would like commonsense to prevail with Gana but I suspect it is the amount he is on that is proving a hard pill to swallow . I would love him to stay as I think at the moment he is irreplaceable but a hard headed business is going to be better in the long run.
Have a great day all COYB

Morning all, not much doing today, at least this hot weather is a good excuse for doing ****er all. Hope your computer arrives today @Terrarian, why things take so long baffles me. We waited ages for some furniture which although it was marked as being “out for delivery “ the date kept being pushed further and further back. When I enquired whether it was strapped to the back of a tortoise slowly making its way down the A1 they put the phone down. Funnily enough the furniture was delivered the next day, maybe a coincidence I’ll never know…
As to Rod Stewart I always knew his politics are far removed from my own but support for Nigel Farage is a bridge too far for me I’m afraid.
@Pilks hope you are okay and just taking some time out.

Have a good day, all.💙

Morning all, I hope it does as well G, sick of waiting and I just know it's going to turn up while I'm walking Daisy meaning more hassle. It is still within the 5-11 working days unfortunately, I think tomorrow is day 11. Why in 2025 we still do working days is beyond me.

I may be jumping the gun but I think the meds might be helping, just not a big enough dose to last all day though. I take 1 naproxen when i get up and 1 at evening meal, then gabapentin when I take my quetiapine before bed. I'm still having to take headache tablets but nowhere near as many. Fingers crossed.

Have a good day guys.

I must admit I heard of but ignored Rod Stewart’s comment (s?), I like his music but he’s views don’t really interest me. There again I’d never heard of “ Bob Vylan” until yesterday, can people really be influenced by these people just because they are “ famous” .? , I just ignore them.
It is an interesting debate to be had. Can you separate the artist from their views? Im not sure I can. Having said that, murdering wife beater Phil Spector could lay down a good tune!
I do think there are people who are influenced by celebs and politicians- especially those they admire and who feed into their insecurities. Look at Andrew Tate and the current leadership of the USA - they are enabling people to behave badly and legitimising it. Charles Manson was hugely influenced by The Beatles White Album - admittedly The Beatles were not espousing any kind of view , it was his interpretation of the songs.
Slightly off topic but I hope relevant, I did a case where a guy (very clever professional person) had been radicalised by hate preachers. The prison report was fascinating- he was desperate to belong, his childhood had been unhappy- nothing he did was good enough for his Dad. The preachers fed into that, told him he was great, gave him that sense of belonging and being loved, for want of a better word. He was caught on his way to Syria with his two young sons,(7 and 9) going off to fight- having shown the kids all kinds of horrific videos and enlisting them up to fight as well.
So the short answer is yes I do think there are people who will be influenced.
That all got a bit heavy! Apologies.

Good morning all. Wow, how hot is it? Ive been doing some very light gardening and I am melting! I appear to have successfully grown an aubergine. I'm very proud. It is only small at the moment but definitely a recognisable aubergine. Sadly no gooseberries this year. I'm not sure my gooseberry bush appreciated being dug up and moved to our new house. However it looks healthy so hopefully next year will be good.
Definitely get yourself to the pub @peteblue . It is a perfect day for it. Enjoy your drive with Kay.
Im pleased to hear you think the meds are starting to work @Terrarian . Fingers crossed and I really hope your delivery arrives.
I think Mr F and I will be barbecuing tonight and sitting outside.
Have a good day all.

Great news about the meds

Good debate.

Can't listen to Michael.Jsckson or Marvin Gaye as I can't separate the deed from the dude.

Similarly Mrs J won't listen to Sting .

Happily I've always hated Rod Stewart and his politics don't suprise me in the least.
