Morning all, bit grey but the sky is brightening up a bit. Exchanged cards with my lovely friend yesterday and was touched to receive one āFor my Wonderful Friend with love at Christmasā not only does she have great taste in her choice of friends but also cards - it was exactly the same as the one I gave her. lol
Happy Birthday to Mrs Blue @blue1948, enjoy your last day shopping in Cologne @Val P thereās a mustard museum in Norwich too, it always reminds me of my Nan who had an enormous tin of Colmans dried mustard. She would mix a tiny amount in a little pot when required, lasted her for years.
Have a good day, all.![]()

My hub had a traditional German meal - pigs knuckleHi folks. I hope you are all OK. Happy birthday Mrs Blue. @jazzy have a great time. @Val P your pics are great. I've had company again today. My friend's broadband still isn't sorted so we've been working together today.
How's the job going @Vegas Toffee Girl? Still loving it? I'm fully settled nto my new role and I have to say the days fly over.
Tonight's tea is woolly mammoth with cashew nuts and yellow bean sauce. Took forever to thaw out!![]()
That is so touching- that your Dad had been there but you had no idea until today. How often do we end up thinking āIf only I had known!ā and yes agree wholeheartedly War is pointless.Apparently Iām not the first member of my family to have been here In Cologne. My sister decided to tell me today that my dad who was sergeant in the RAF, led a team of tradesmen who came over to Germany towards the end of WW2 to salvage damaged aircraft, either fixing, dismantling or scrapping them. I do have quite a few pics he took and I will have another look when I get home to see if I recognise the places. Apparently we didnāt bomb the cathedral- either because we used it as a landmark for navigation, or because of its cultural status, or because the bombs could not be very accurately dropped (depending on what you read). Itās made me feel a bit weird, wanting to be proud of what he did but having read about the devastation here caused by our bombers in retaliation itās so sad. War is so pointless. I wish he was here to talk about it with me.
There are so many coincidences in lifeThat is so touching- that your Dad had been there but you had no idea until today. How often do we end up thinking āIf only I had known!ā and yes agree wholeheartedly War is pointless.
