Morning everyone,

Finally getting over my latest virus I think but I've put my sensible head on , no gym and no table tennis for another week.

The funeral went ok I suppose, mind you I shouldn't think that anyone compiles their top ten funeral lists or has a greatest funeral hits compilation lp.

Strange though still no word on the "sudden death " so Mrs J reckons that means suicide. Who knows?

It's stopped raining and nowhere near as cold as it has been.

Been out to do mum's big shop and Mrs J despite still suffering is at the rescue shop so after I've had my cup of tea I will put the shopping away , do some washing and read my book. It's a cracker set in the deep south of America where the patois is a mix of French / English. I'm fine with most of the French ( need to look up a couple of words occasionally) but the English stumps me lol.

Good morning all on this murky day here in Hyvinkää .I hope all are well and had a great night .Well the shindig was a bit low key but very nice people ,we met our German neighbour who once again started a pointless discussion with me last time it was about religion ,this time Darwin's theory on evolution .She steadfastly disregards his opinions but does believe in a fourth dimension here on earth ( I am not sure that is where she is from ) with another species/race /being living alongside us ! I forgot to check what she was drinking .
What are the thoughts on here about evolution ? She wanted proof despite me saying that to change a species needs more time than I have witnessed .There is proof that birds are evolving and I explained that to her ,her reply was that was adapting to the environment -what is evolution other than that I replied but she insisted that she needed evidence of a fish becoming land based !

Sounds like a heavy night blue but in the right way.

I suspect that Fred's reaction would have been to be his usual charming self, humour her and get her pissed ASAP.

Me, well I'm sorry but I don't suffer fools gladly and whilst I would have tried to be pleasant and tried to reason with her I reckon I would have become impatient with her and made any excuse to get out of her company.

I had a friend from many years ago who visited us many years ago and he reacted badly to the mention of Darwin , “ where’s the proof “ etc. He’s quite a negative influence , fortunately I only hear from him once per year at Christmas. Whatever beliefs people have , being at peace with modern science and other’s opinions shouldn’t be that difficult if you are really at peace with yourself and your own beliefs.

I had a friend from many years ago who visited us many years ago and he reacted badly to the mention of Darwin , “ where’s the proof “ etc. He’s quite a negative influence , fortunately I only hear from him once per year at Christmas. Whatever beliefs people have , being at peace with modern science and other’s opinions shouldn’t be that difficult if you are really at peace with yourself and your own beliefs.

Mrs J was brought up as a devout Roman Catholic and went to Everton Valley a convent school.

She was always interested in science and all things animals and being the swot that she was did a project on Darwin and evolution. Despite being very young she even got her parents to take her to Shrewsbury, Darwin's birthplace so she could complete her research.

When she handed it in the nun went ballistic and dragged her to the head sister uttering words like "abomination, desecrated and the Devil's work".

Unsurprisingly Mrs J has avoided all forms of religion since that day and went on to become a scientist.
