I’ll never be able to walk past there without sniggering now! lolGreat Photo’s. Now obviously you know that I’m not one for detail or being picky but can someone show me on a map where in that second photo that Robert Laxton (died 1891) was from ? It just feels like someone missed off a letter…….
I am surprised you got the inference young ladyI’ll never be able to walk past there without sniggering now! lol

Better take your wetsuitMorning all, belting down with rain here. Early start this morning as on the school run for grandkid no 1. Just been reading that Pboro Lido is set to shut for the winter at the end of the week. It normally closes at the end of August but the opening was extended due to lower attendances during the summer. It occurs to me that if it wasn’t warm enough in August for swimming it wouldn’t be warm enough in November but heyho, they didn’t call us Pottyborough for nothing lol Anyway I’d better get down there for a dip while I can!
Have a good day, all.![]()
We used to have an outside pool and I have dipped (by dipped ,I was in and out so fast I wasn't wet!) in 2.6° .We broke the ice on top so I could go in .We have a pool now that is 14.5°and we go in to swim .My wife has rheumatoid arthritis and the cold water helps .This was the last house with some guests eating the grassMorning everyone, miserable rainy day today but looking forward to a Christmas afternoon tea with some ex work mates later. Never done afternoon tea before- it probably sounds too civilised and alcohol free for me, but the company is always great - we’ve known each other for about 23 years. We’re known as the fridge girls - years ago one of the daughters saw a picture of us on her mums fridge and asked who it was, and the name has stuck. On the night of the massive snowfall years ago we went out in Ormskirk to a really nice tapas bar that has since shut down. Mr P collected some of us to bring us home and we got stuck in the snow near Skelmersdale. Two blokes walked past us to find out what was going on and when we saw them coming back I said I’ll stop them and see what they know. Believe it or not one of them was Duncan McKenzie!! Funny where you bump into Everton players isn’t it - we’ve had a few random encounters over the years.
Take care today @jazzy - keep warm. Enjoy your shopping @blue1948. I hope you’re joking about the dip @Gwladysover - there’s a lot of teasing goes on on here and I’m gullible
Have a good day all![]()

That looks gorgeous @blue1948. I once did a hot tub on holiday in February near Polglass in Scotland but I’m pretty sure it was much warmer than that. Stargazing was amazing tho and I bet it is there too. I’m glad it helps your wife, it’s such a painful and debilitating illness. We used to have an outside pool and I have dipped (by dipped ,I was in and out so fast I wasn't wet!) in 2.6° .We broke the ice on top so I could go in .We have a pool now that is 14.5°and we go in to swim .My wife has rheumatoid arthritis and the cold water helps .This was the last house with some guests eating the grassView attachment 237380
