Messi "best player of all time"

It really is crazy. Judging a players ability on results in a team sport just doesn't make sense.

Wasn't it in the final of the Copa America a few years ago when Higuian missed from about a yard out right near the end of the match? Meaning that Lionel Messi would be the greatest player of all time if Gonzalo Higuian wasn't so crap.

That just doesn't make any sense.

Or Maradona would have been a yard dog if the ref had spotted his handball.

Different leagues more CL and a European cup

Again, completely made up criteria. Pele played for one club is whole career. Maradona never came close to winning anything in European club competition. Cruyff never won an international trophy with the Netherlands. Prior to this era, those three are frequently regarded as the best players ever, yet all three would fail the test you just set for greatness.

It's not a made up criteria it's facts he has done all that, but I do agree with you as well, you don't need to do what Ronaldo has done to be a great player but I would of liked to have seen Messi play in a different league not that it takes away anything from him just would of been nice, I loved Cruyfff and Maradona by the way.

But why? He's duffed up team after team in the Champions League, which by its very nature is the best teams from all those other leagues in Europe. It's hard to imagine him struggling against Stoke and Bournemouth.

I'm not talking about him struggling against a championship side and an average preimer side, but I think you know that, I'm just saying it would have to nice to see him play for a Top side in a different league.

Why would Messi leave probably the greatest club in the world, where he can showcase he is the best in the world, win everything in the game, just to placate some weirdos in Britain who think football should be played in a direct 442 system where you fight for the knockdown and get a pay rise for a firm challenge.
You are weird to think other people are weirdos to have an opinion about something if you don't agree fine but what's with personal insults.

But can he do it on a cold....

But seriously, until he wins something with a non top 2 side in the world - who’s a favorite in 95% of their matches, he’ll never be the greatest.

So unless he leaves Barca, it’s win with Argentina or bust.

It really doesn’t take any sort of intellectual effort to extrapolate what the man has done, and continues to do, to see that he would light up any team in any league. He plays with Suarez and Coutinho who have both bossed it in the EPL. And he outshines them. Ronaldo is quite rightly is regarded as one of the greatest players to have ever played in the EPL, and hasn’t exactly shown up Messi to be a fraud by outshining him. Ridiculous argument. It’s like saying Federer isn’t all that until he comes down to the Lincolnshire regional tennis championship and wins there!

No it's no though is it.

No, mate, you’re right it isn’t. But I wandered into this thread and it seems to invite hyperbole so just joined in
I think people try to get likes by trying to be be funny or outwit people I don't get it myself, People have different opinions on Messi and Ronaldo there is nothing wrong with that, so why some have to try and downgrade people's opinions I don't understand.
