Best player of his era.
If he was transported back to the 60's or 70's he couldn't cope with the physicality,or the equipment.
If you transplanted a player from the 60s into the modern era they'd be knackered before Deulofeu. That's a poor defence really. A player from the past could easily get up to modern fitness norms. A player from this era who depends on referee protection to be able to do their job would find it much harder dealing with enforcers all over the opposition half of the pitch whose sole job was to end your game early. The physicality? lol If you transplanted a player from the 60s into the modern era they'd be knackered before Deulofeu.

You'll have evidence that there were significantly more injuries in the past than today I presume?
How would that be relevant when players just got on (and had to get on) with the type of minor knocks today's players are looking to be stretchered off with? It's entirley irrelevant.
You'd do better looking at the videos from that period of what flair players had to put up with and then asking yourself whether Messi could cope in that environment and be the player he has been. IMO - very definitely not.

Maybe. He may well have taken the hits and not cried off. But he wouldn't be as effective as he has been. He's been fortunate to be playing in a period of the game where tackling is almost outlawed.I think he'd hold up at least as well as Maradona did, and as he isn't someone who you'd happily volley up in the air twenty four hours a day he would probably avoid the worst of Maradona's injuries.
