What do you mean when you say you played there? Would be very interested in hearing!

Cologne is about as mad about football as it gets. The powerful thing is that there's one major club the whole city unites behind which is a rare thing for a city of that size.

The site itself has been used since the 1920s. The second stadium built there was opened in 1975 so that would make sense! The current stadium opened in 2004.

I used to go there as a kid/teenager but always took it for granted back then. Moved to Vienna to study and over the years developed a deeper and deeper connection with the club from afar. Never had the time, the money or both to go back. Sunday was my first time in 13 years and it was an absolute dream come true. Went with one of my best mates who I don't get to see often since we live 900 kilometres apart. A 4:1 win to top it off, couldn't have imagined it going better.
eggs is supposed efc royalty, nobody has worked out who yet (well not disclosed it, eggs is entitled to that privacy) but it can be worked out with moderate confidence :)

…I’m certainly not Bry, I was a very good schoolboy and youth footballer, one of those prolific young goalscorers. I actually signed for the RS and played there a few years but I was never a pro. I stayed on at school and did A-Levels.

I don’t mention it often, but I did play at and often score at some famous old stadiums

Tell me you scored at goodison (not for the RS)

Presumably @Eggs played for the Liverpool (region) Schoolboys team against Cologne Schoolboys in the Cologne stadium, before an Effzeh first team match? Wasn't Tommy Wheeldon the lad who was signed the same day as Bruce Rioch and Duncan Mckenzie?

…he was, we played representative schoolboy football together (Sammy Lee was with us but didn’t go on that trip, Dave Bamber might have been there).

Tommy played mainly at Torquay (I think) before moving to Canada. He and his two sons are very well known over there, one was/is manager of top flight team. They are massive Evertonians, I’m sure Canadian Toffees know them.

Anyway, back on thread it’s good to have a young German join us, hopefully raise our profile over there.

Watched him in last Summer's U21s tournament, looked decent at that level and along with the lad Newcastle have signed were Germany's stand out players. Can he convert that to the Prem?

They are? Never heard of them.

We had Daglish's son up here a few years back but don't recognize these names myself.
