2025/26 Merlin Röhl

Iroegbunam is physical. Alcaraz if he makes an error will be doing it away from our own goal (generally) and I think Moyes will have reasoned that it looks like we're trying to win the fame if he puts on Alcaraz.

I agree about Dibling, I'd be keeping him out until we have some form or a semi decent striking option. It'll be tough for him otherwise. But, McNeil was woeful last night. Looked miles off it in mentality and fitness.

…the ‘physicality’ point is well made and something I wondered about too given Sunderland’s midfielders.

Dont think Iroegbunam is that Physical to be honest mate, more a presence and athletic, dont really think of him as a battling midfielder and felt we lost the battle in there last night.

On Sunderland, it shows what can be done on the recruitment side, they put together a while new midifled that over ran us for legs last night Xaka, Sadiki bossed us and they are both new signing's, throw Diarra into the mix there and that's an inviable midfled and very good integration and recruitment.

Garner and Idrissa are playing together what a couple of years anyway and it was the opposition midfield that looked like they had played together for years as opposed to a handful of games.

This is spot on. Having brought in three central midfielders this summer of various stripes, it’s crazy but true that there is no good combination of them. I still can’t get my head around Moyes having apparently made Palhinha one of his first priorities, then - having unsurprisingly failed to sign him - not managing to find a single other player in the world with a similar profile. What sort of list has one player on it?
Do you think it's possible that we make a list of players with a particular profile and the ones we like won't join us and all the others Moyes doesn't rate? Buying players isn't like buying a car. We're not a team that can easily attract players so we usually just buy the best players we can get for the money and try to fit them into the team. Grealish wasn't really what we needed given he plays a similar role to NDiaye but he wanted to come and we can afford him and he is a high class player.

Well that is the exact problem. Bournemouth/Brighton etc have a style of play and sign players to suit it, they don’t change the style to suit the players.

Needs time to adjust to the PL tempo, but there’s something in him. Great physycality, engine and positive attitude. Hope he’ll get more chances as season progresses.
