Besides the missed header he was very good. He was the best midfielder on the pitch today by far imo.

He missed a great chance to make it 2-1 then gave the ball away high up the pitch with a needless crossfield ball which led to their 3rd goal.. best mid on the pitch

Definitely adds physicality and height we badly lack in midfield, but looks a bit unsure on the ball

Not seen enough to be close to forming an opinion yet but the moyes quote about his 'physicals' isn't wrong. The boy absolutely eats up ground.

What we’re throwing out each week isn’t working. Throw Merlin out in the starting XI and see what he’s got. I feel Moyes is doing everything backwards. We have better players on the bench who come in late every game.

Tall, athletic and gets around the pitch.

Moyes usually loves this type so its strange hes not starting games.

As ive repeatedly said, injury prone so a high risk signing imo.

Seemed pretty average today, albeit in a below average performance. Very quick across the ground, but yet to see evidence he can pick a pass. Very limited view of him today though. Would like to see him tried at least.
