2025/26 Merlin Röhl

Him Garner and Iroegbunam meant for the first time in a longtime we were able to outrun the opposition in midfield. It lead to a lot of turnovers and good counterattacking opportunities. There is no substitute for having midfielders who can close down the opposition quickly and turn the ball over.

Proper unsure on his actual position. The times I’ve seen him in Germany or for Germany he was either on the wing or playing as a defensive mid 😂
That's where he seemed to play in the few games I saw him and he looked a livewire but on the comms last night they were suggesting that he is a bit like Garner and can play in a variety of positions.

Bit of a concern about his use of the ball. There's shades of the bits I don't like about Alcaraz about him in these early showings. In fact there's shades of some of the good bits of Alcaraz's game about him too.

It's very, very early to be making any sort of judgements about him and, to be fair, you could argue that Tim Cahill was never particularly silky with his passing and wasn't exactly a creative force in the final third, so there's room for players who can excel in other ways, but I'd probably be tempted to say that I'm on the side of the argument that says he hasn't particularly impressed me yet. The huge caveat there is that it's so early to be forming opinions that it's almost nonsense for me to be saying that right now.

I think there are some positives so far for him. Hes quick which is good, fairly combative. It needs to be considered thats hes come from a poor league where its easier to shine so it will take time. I think he will come good eventually, just needs to stay fit. Maybe a stint at right back could be what he needs.
He's quick? I think you were watching the wrong player.

He had a average game - better when he went RB as someone posted , but to be fair to him he played in a makeshift team last night - not as MOTD looked at a one man team in James Garner - who was the best player on the pitch it was so obvious to see - the whole team fought for their cause - most posters including me thought we would lose - credit to DM who had obviously well drilled his team in a very good team performance all round - we caught them twice & two good goals - the easiest chance missed by Tarks - so it could have been 3-0 ....

Not one player had a bad game last night & for Rhols first major game in a weak team he did OK as did Patterson - players who excelled were Tim Garner Barry & Dibling & our two centre backs & left back who did not venture forwards as they had good wingers - DM read Dyche like a book last night - 5-0 over him in 2 weeks .......

Rhol will get better if he can stay fit ....

I follow Freiburg very often and he didn't have an impressive season before. Pretty much out of first squads and injured. He's a a team player and that's fine but not much more.
