I can deal with with a poor start to the season, i can deal with getting knocked out of the league cup by lower league opposition, i can deal with a million and one Moyes out threads.

Whats driving me absolutley mental is all the current we have to "pull together" "its time to show our spirit" soundbites in the media by our players for the past month, the biggest culprut being Phil Neville, and recently Arteta and a few others have gotten in the act.

Less words more action lads, is it getting on anyone elses nerves?

100% agree mate. Players use the same rubbish 'keywords' in pointless interviews.

If we took some of the pre match comments then put the match report afterwards all in one thread they would look like blerts.

giving it the big "we've gotta do this..." then not doing it.

Actions...Words....]

Less media time, more proof in the pudding please Blues...

I actually disagree, I can see what your saying, but these players, especially those captaining the team, are expected to do these interviews and naturally, they are are going to be asked certain questions. What do you want them to say?

"we've got no chance, lets all give up now"

They can't win really.

True.

I wish they'd be more specific though....

eg: "The gaffer was trying to get Bainesy to push on and get some balls in, but their right back was having a great game, we switched it for abit second half tyring to bring Coleman in more, that failed so we tried the hoofball coz Felli's a big lad, Felli had a great chance to equalise and should of buried it, he's gutted, he said to me afterwards he's well miffed with himself, but you know, start again next week..."

let's us know a bit more about what Moyes is upto...its not a criticism, just tactical instructions post match...no harm eh?

instead of...

"We showed spirit and determination but our character failed to show last night..."

errrr?????

Actually i would like their words to match intent - there is no point coming out with this "we need to get tough" buissness - if there is no follow through and they roll over on Sat like Newcastle. Regardless of expectation or the norm in terms of media - if you cant follow through on your words dont give them.

There is a patroniseing element to these interviews.

my point exactly. Which is why I largely ignore these media bytes, and have stopped reading most sports papers..

I like Phil Neville, but come on....

I doubt they want to keep repeating it either, you can tell that the vast majority of them would rather not do interviews, but that's part of the job and I'm sure they try to back it up on the pitch, not everything goes the way you want it too though, that's life I suppose. Especially the players who captain the team, they are supposed to keep the spirit high and show a positive attitude.

Every player in the world is capable of playing a bad game. Doesn't that before the game he's not gonna say he wants to play well and win the match.

Unfortunatly a players performance cannot be controlled by a switch so its all well and good saying they should back up the words on the pitch.

But how do you make them?

Also very true.

Good point. It's generally the post match stuff that irritates me.

There is a difference between performence and spirt though - good perforemnces against Wolves, Villa and Man Utd but being unlucky, i can rationalise. Since the Utd game we have been hearing about, character, spirt, and kicking on - then they put in an efortless perforemence against Newcastle, repeated by something similar on Weds. Its not there anymore and if it is its certainly not evident. I would think we are in the minority this season of teams who have shown will and character to win games. Anything else is hypocritical and patronising regardless of the whys, hows and wheres these interviews are made. Im sure there not all given pro bono either.

Im not bothered with performence at the moment to be honest i would prefer to win a performence of the Eventon of 04/05 gritty, committed and prepared to die to win the battle for the game.

Words at the moment are simply cringeworthy - no matter what emphasis is placed on them and i hope, they cringe at the words they speak on behalf of their team, to go back and let it effect performence.

It's counter productive as well. They're designed to be a tonic for the troops, but they're at best laughable for fans, at worst winding them up. I realise - as has been mentioned - they're obligated to make statements to fulfill commercial deals etc, but they should realise they sound like complete buffoons until they correct results and recognise that self-realisation in interview.

Just move to Spain mate. You don't get any of that shoite here

I said this in the match preview, it's predictable. I know managing the media is part of the modern job but it bothers me as I'm still seething at us being [Poor language removed]. Just talk about the game and avoid the psychobabble [Poor language removed] about what not motivating you enough to put every iota of your effort into running about the pitch on £40k a week.

I could easily not click the articles like so it probably rests with me too like.
