I genuinely thought he would do a lot better for us but with all the circumstances involved - form, injuries, lack of game time - it just wasn't going to work out.

I do rate Barkley as a good, even very good player. I just don't think he's at the level many on here do. I'm frustrated by his decision making. I don't think he'll live up to his potential.

I don't think McGeady was ever given a run of games to show what he can do. Am I wrong? Did he get that run?

I stand by my opinion that Barkley won't kick on past the "lad's got great potential".

Yes he can glide past the opposition but too often nothing comes of it. That's my issue.

I saw enough of McGeady to make my mind up tbh. I got very excited after his goal against Leicester and a few wicked crosses but there was never any consistency.
