He was a very cheap option, so it was a punt in many respects that didn't work out.

I thought overall he showed some moments that suggested he could do a job for us in some capacity. In fact, he was hard done by a few times early last season when he played well as a starter in a few games but was taken off after about 70 minutes almost as a matter of course, even when he was having a decent game. That rocked his confidence ultimately.

That said, it was obvious he wasn't going to be the answer for us as a starter and then quickly fell off the numbers populating the bench. One of those where you wonder if someone playing in other leagues who have a decent reputation could ever make it in the PL and then underline that they really cant. I thought he might be able to make the leap, but that was wrong.
