I really don't think so. Apart from Kane, Eriksen and Lloris, there's not a one of them I'd have at Everton, and I don't think I'm speaking from bias. Their back 4 is one of the worst in the league as far as I'm concerned, and they have coasted on standout individuals. Don't get me wrong, there's the makings of a decent side there, not unlike ourselves, but they have a far bigger clearout operation to attend to in the summer. I intend to get over more often next year, it really was a great experience!
You're not welcome

Well yes, my honest viewpoint is it's a cultural difference and penalty takers (much like captains) are not viewed with anywhere near the same level if importance to him. I am not saying he's right or wrong in that but it's up to him. I was very hard on Mirallas after the incident, but I sense there is probably a bit more to it than that.

I don't think he cares too much about what wider people think. I don't really mind if it irks fans too much, or indeed journalists. But I do worry if it means he isn't seen to be keeping control in the dressing room.

He has come through a major crisis, much like how Moyes did before him. He obviously needs to adapt and I think he will, as like Moyes he is a strong willed thoughtful operator. I hope though he doesn't change who he is, and adapt to the point he loses sight of his key principles as they are what distinguish him (or any manager) from others.

After our second poor season I don't think Moyes ever came out and slagged the players again. it became quite cosy and I don't think he moved players on enough. We also lost a lot of our more carefree optimism which took years to get back. He also ended up too close to Kenwright. Lets hope Martinez adapts but not too far.
Last paragraph is spot on. I dont think he will ditch his playing principles, but there might be a tendency to be (too) grateful to the board for sticking by him through his first big test and not flinching. On a more positive note, your other point is important too: the players attitude in the wake of the Moyes' second season. I think Martinez's experience this season (going through that turmoil with his players and finding, with them, a path out of the winter madness) will help forge this group of players to him as their manager. Shared adversity will do that and they know they have a man in the dugout who can shield them from criticism and they'll trust his instincts to resolve any future problems.

This season wont have been a waste in that respect.

He changed his approach though. When the penny finally dropped that we were only heading in one direction by faffing around at the back and leaving Lukaku isolated he decided to dig in defensively and grind out a few results. We had 3 defensive midfielders on many occasions during these games and tried to hit Lukaku with more direct balls. It was painful to watch at times but it worked and he deserves credit for that. The worst mistake would have been to dig his heels in and refuse to compromise but thankfully he didn't and it has borne results, culminating in our excellent performance against United.

That's all most of us were ever asking for. Not his head on a plate. It was sensible management and has most likely bought him another season.

I was trying to say the tactics employed against Man Utd were nothing new, there has been a more pragmatic approach in the league as of late like you said though.

Basically, I was calling anyone out who suddenly loved Martinez again purely because we beat Man Utd 3-0. Which might seems weird as I'm a Martinez fan, but I just think we need more sensible opinions among fans.

No it was a formative experience that needed to happen. Some will leave in the summer, but those who stay will be behind him now and will have been hopefully to rock bottom and back. The players were very loyal to Moyes too in a similar way. Again it could (and should) be said they were probably too loyal. I hope Martinez can maintain the loyalty but perhaps be a bit more cut throat than Moyes was.

Having said that, give me a Martinez/Moyes who will defend players too much over a Rodgers who throws them under the bus any day.

He will have to show deference to the board for their support. That is understandable. I hope not too much though. His general vision for the club is a good one. Bring through younger players and train them to play attacking, fearless football. We should continue along that path.

Agreed mate. I'm very positive about the near future under RM. Although I wouldn't go so far as to say this season needed to happen or was a blessing in disguise, I think more good than harm will come from it. I've had a nagging doubt up to this stage just how much this group of players were on board with Roberto (they respected his intellect, Im sure, but maybe doubted his mettle). Going through this season's ups and down and finishing strongly has been important for the corp spirit side of things.

A good window and pre-season workout and we can have a very strong 2015/16 season.

Couldn't agree more, although this season has caused me to lose faith in his ability to be ruthless with the players.

Too much of a jobs for the boys feel about Everton for my liking.
