I do wonder how far this poll will equalise out over time, at present it is 50/50.

I still wouldn't even consider sacking Martinez. We played brilliantly against Young Boys in mid week and he was tactically very adept.

Having said that, his decision to bring back Howard is as poor a decision as he has made. It really has to rank alongside Moyes picking Neville over Barkley for Neville to mess up.

People can see there was a staleness when Moyes left. Martinez needs to challenge some of the older players and ultimately move them on. He has done so with Distin. Howard is another who needs to be moved on. He had the perfect opportunity to and has only made that process harder by putting him back in the team.

What Joel and others must think of being dropped for Howard I will never know. It was weak management. He needs to pull his finger out, as by the summer half measures in moving players on could well cost him.

Personally I think Etoo wasnt the only bad apple in the squad...I admit this season has a weird vibe innit...think we will see Swift kicks in the bum when season is over. Core is good. We just need few additions to perfect the style bobby wants us to play.

Just out of interest what if kev, sammy and sylvain all said what the fans have said ? What if the players were saying to bobby we arent comfortable with this slow football, we arent happy at the lack of support from the wings etc, i would not be suprised to see martinez dropping these players because they refuse to tow the line, he is a stubborn character is bobby. We always assume it is a players fault if one player is dropped but in this case there is three players who all have been dropped, maybe bobby is wrong and not the three bad apples.

There are two ways of looking at the situation we're in right now, which are summed up as:

  • We're in danger of relegation
  • We're in no danger of relegation
If anyone genuinely feels like we might go down this season then I can totally understand them wanting Martinez out. Personally, I don't expect we'll be in the bottom five by May and that we'll end up somewhere between 9th-13th. That's obviously a disappointing season but I think it would be futile to sack Martinez off the back of it.

I'd like to see where we're at in another 12 months. Martinez made a mess of pre-season last summer. Lots of people rattled on with the 'results don't matter' rhetoric when we were getting spanked by Celta Vigo and Paderborn, ignoring the fact we looked unfit and poorly (barely) organised. It seems like Martinez might have been - pre-empting a long and busy schedule - attempting to build the squad's fitness throughout the season, but it didn't work: a few demoralising results at the beginning of the campaign and we've unable to build any momentum since. There's also concern over motivation: several key players from last season - Baines (despite the assist stats), Coleman, Howard (come on, he was decent), Barry et al - have suffered dramatic dips in form, while the likes of Pienaar and Distin - dare I say it - might not have been quite so injured under a different manager.

Seeing if Martinez is capable of learning from his mistakes over this summer and into next season makes more sense to me than bringing in a new manager. We're two years into a fairly large project of transformation, and the likes of Pienaar, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Osman, Mirallas, Howard, Hibbert, etc., might very well be moved on over the next couple of years (some almost certainly will before this August). Shifting the older heads and washing away the last residue of the previous manager will be the ultimate test for Martinez, and there's every chance he might be capable of building a strong and successful squad. If by Dec 2015 we're in the same position as now we might be justified in wanting him out. In my opinion we;d be hasty and rash to sack him any earlier.

We had a whole good season last year, this time out 3/4 of the way through we've been indifferent but still have a chance of silverware. I wouldn't say the merits getting shut of the manager, especially if you factor in other mitigating circumstances.

bit worse than indifferent, clueless more like

manager steers the ship. all whiners and mutinous players should be dropped.

Bad apple..hmmm. Is it not the managers job to identify the bad apples before he signs them? Is it possible that one of the clubs scouts knew of Etos,s rep before he signed? Who is to say that someone like a Jimmy Mac would have left in Jan if say someone like spurs came in but was,nt arsed to put in a transfer request. Anyway we digress, the point is that in my view life would go on much easier than fans think if Bobby moved on tommorow and the bigger questions we should be asking should be about comments like this:-

" i knew in the first 60 secs this was the manager for Everton Football Club"

" I knew in the first 30 seconds this was the new manager of Everton Football Club"

" Booby has told me he wants ECL this season"

How many people do you know in a £5B industry makes public statements as above to your customer base about major new appointments but then again football is so different right even when it,s £5B growth engine and everyone has there snout in the trough.

well, yes i know what you mean. but thats the harsh reality...some managers and players just dont get along and if thats a case..you know what then tends to happend.

I know the players involved differ, i know what you mean but take a look at Barca, their coach was using the players in a system that they was not comfortable with, is it really worth losing Messi and others over Enrique ?
