Well fair enough fans giving Martinez time. I'd love him to succeed as I like his long term approach to management (lets face it we need a long-term strategy and no short-term fixes) Not even sure why I've had to defend Andy gray on here as to be honest he wouldn't be my choice anyway. I guess when you get described as 'insane' you kind of react!

The dissident numbers have been coming down consistently over the past few weeks. Understandably so given the corner being turned. Just a quarter now reckon it's the manager's fault concerning who's to blame for the poor season (represented visually below).

Martinez has made mistakes this season all the same. Every manager usually does, like most reasonable Evertonian's I will judge him next season. I suspect the non-manager factors are in relation to our beloved board.

If you honestly think this is worse than the dark days of those managers listed you're a lost cause talking about football or either on a wind up. Smith playing defenders on the wings and up front was tragic, Kendal a shadow of his former self with turgid footballers was embarrassing and as for the Walker era the least said the better about the likes of Brett Angel and the like.

This season has clearly dipped well below the standard regard or the dizzy heights of last season but we've seen good exciting football periodically, like Arsenal, Wolfsburg, Lille, Burnley or QPR and we're clearly heading back in the right direction. It's a hell of a statement saying this is the worst football you've seen for 30 odd years and is such an over exaggeration that you've lost any credability in this thread in my eyes by stooping so low to try and prove a point.

We are performing as badly as we did during 93/94, that's a fact. Martinez also routinely plays players out of position, and he had four defensive central midfielders on the pitch last night. And as for the style of play, it is quite easily the most boring and negative brand of football that I have ever seen, not just from Everton, but in footballing history.

Passing the ball from side to side in your own half before the inevitable mistake takes place and Hull score another goal is as crap as it gets, and it is every bit as crap as it was under Walker etc. Walker had a crap team to work with though, whereas Martinez has one of our best squads in years.

Do you know the players he had in that team playing in a lower division. I would certainly hope so.

No, I dont. But I would imagine they were half decent. Point is, he was obviously groomed for the job, and seeing the players he dumped from the 1st team straight away showed he had the steel for it.

I just find it laughable when ex players are seen as being a decent manager/coach based on nothing but their punditry or analysis.

I may well be wrong, and Gray might be a brilliant manager. But based on his actual achievements or experience in it, I remain to be convinced.

Bojan (knocking them in for fun breaking all sorts of records), Busquets, Pedro and Thiago just to name a few.

Ok I'm being a bit disingenuous because he did create the whole system of how the B team operates however he still ultimately had the players.

I think Martinez will come good but he will need to also get lucky and players like Stones, Barkley, Besic and Lukaku along with Henen and Galloway and any new signings will have to reach what we hope is their potential.

For us to think about binning Martinez at this stage is madness although I do wish he would stop playing Naismith and Barry.

He wasn't groomed for the job. He was out of work and asked the top brass to take it over as it was a nothing job at the time.

We had two DMs on the pitch for most the match, three for the last 15 minutes. Not that unusual for teams away from home at Chelsea, especially heading into the end of the match with a clean sheet.

How would have you preferred us to line up to give a more attacking display given we only had two fit wingers - one new to the club/lacking match fitness and the other who rarely lasts last 60mins even when on form?
