Wasn't exactly "Total Football" either. We were boring and predictable, close down the left side and it was game over.

Until Gibson and Mirallas signed like. Only in his last season was it enjoyable to watch.

We were known up and down the land for it. We were labelled (possibly a bit too easily) as a direct team - which is their polite way of saying hoofball.

A handful of times they played well, usually when there was nothing at stake because Moyes would bottle it otherwise.

It'd take an awful lot to rehabilitate Moyes and repackage him as a football manager of any note.

We are good enough for a Barca style of play. We showed that last season and we've shown it in Europe.

As for your example, Spurs and Liverpool.

...even though the vast majority rejected those hoofball tactics? You think we'd all swing back toward a more agricultural approach if Martinez left?

Anyone who thinks Moyes was hoofball is too wrapped up in some kind of agenda and only seeing what they want to.

The football last season was excellent, but for entertainment value it was no better than what we'd seen the year before.

Liverpool and Spurs are in the bracket above us IMO. More to spend on transfers in the positions you need to have top class talent if this brand of football is to work on a consistent basis.

No chance. We were swatting teams off the park and doing it with a swagger unseen for years, even under Moyes in his last year some games were boring and laboured even when we were playing some alright stuff.

Last season was brilliant and I've never seen anything like it. Proper togger. Centre Mids winning it, spraying it wide, cross coming in and Lukaku toeys home, wasn't like that under Moyes. We still mixed it up and went long to Felli 85% of the time.
