Maybe you're right, i dunno. Just don't see any suitable candidates to be honest to come in until June. A new manager will stop the rot in pre-season and start afresh. I think we should let him have a crack at the FA Cup and until the end of the season.

People sometimes forget that we are playing (sometimes) the best football since the late 80's, and that Tim Howard was performing to levels unseen since Steve Simonsen and cost us 10-15 points himself this season; Baines and Jags were out for a lot of the season who (usually) bring more stability to our defence, etc. Besic being out of the second semi-final was a major blow also. Things have gone against us... however there is no excuse for the inconceivable late collapses again and again though! I also assumed being able to score goals was harder than being solid at the back, and that, if needed, any team could do an "Allardyce" and shut up shop for a few games or to kill a game. RM seems incapable and unwilling to do this, which is infuriating.

Anyway, I still reckon we keep him until the end of the season. He won the FA Cup with Wigan against Man City! We are street ahead of Wigan, and there is no-one close to the quality of Man City left in the cup.

I don't buy into " we are playing the best football since 80s" kinda thing mate as our league form is shambolic. A new manager either way brings a fresh etc weres don't want a stop gap im not against a new one till end of the season and then we look then. I don't know who mate myself but surely there's better candidates then the one we have now. we're stuck in a mud hill and going know were and other clubs are flying past on they're quads so to speak

That's the thing for me mate, if there is a banner at Watford (I'm against a banner) then Martinez and the players become under immense pressure just before a cup semi.
Again a fair argument and one which has its own merits. Regardless of how much I'm worried about Martinez, the cup success would be great.

So to risk that cup success in any way is a real concern! However, you could argue that the pressure has reached a point that is must be shown.

Also, it could also be argued that'll it show Martinez our displeasure and force him (or those above) to make vital improvements beforehand.

Basically, I really do not know what's best so it comes down to whether the cup is important enough to hide any other long-term concerns.

One argument is probably no more valid than the other; it just depends on personal feelings. I'm edging towards showing before hand.

Showing at the semi-final though would just seem a step too far though, and also it's our league form that is worrying not the cup. That fair?

Just realised I need to change my Avatar<<<<< lol

Get Mourinho in now, win the FA Cup. Simple lol

I don't know if you are of an age to remember, shark, but we had a week from hell in 1971.....lost to the RS at OT in an F.A. Cup semi final on the Saturday then excited the European Cup at the quarter final stage on the following Wednesday.

:(

Me, @Dario Terracotta and @BlockHead have been haunted by that week ever since :(
T'other way round mate, the Panathanaikos loss came first
then the RS at OT :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Block....I will go one further.

I would sack him now because as things stand I can't even focus on the semi final as we have four league games in between now and then and for the life of me I don't see us winning one of them.

It is possible we will go to Wembley on the back of a seven game winless streak in the league......a six game winless streak in all competitions.

That is no preparation for Wembley, Block.....no preparation at all.

You saw it yesterday......you saw it agsinst Arsenal and West Ham.......heck, we even saw it at Villa when they reduced a three goal deficit to 1-3.

The minute the opposition score against us panic sets in.....even when we are two goals in front.

IMO this is the Norwich and Bournemouth and Stamford Bridge chickens coming home to roost.

Nothing erodes a player's confidence more than not winning games they should have won at a canter.

I will include City in the LC semi that as well......we were 3-1 up in that tie as it approached half time in the second leg.

Never in my long years as an Evertonian have I witnessed such doom and gloom at the club with the Twin Towers and glory looming on the horizon.

As I have said before, Billy Bingham was sacked a couple weeks before the Bolton LC semi final back in '77.

It worked.

A semi final on the horizon should have no bearing on Bobby's tenure at this time as we are in freefall in the league and there are four games before the big day.

Get him out now.....let Big Joe guide us through the rest of the season.

Flip......I have forgotten what prompted that rant now :(

Oh yes......but I still wouldn't want no steenkeen, Kopite banner

With you one hundred percent matey, cannot argue one single solitary word.
Let's make a banner... oh wait, maybe not :D
