I've experienced winning cups with my home town team as I'm sure many on here have with Everton. Winning is an amazing experience that lives with you for life but our bread and butter is the league. How many people going to Goodison this season have left going 'never mind remember how good winning the fa cup was in 95'. What proportion of the Wigan support have had their memories of lifting the trophy soured by the reality of third tier football. Success in the cup didn't stop Portsmouth from being an absolute joke of a club - cup success is not a magic bullet.

We want the FA Cup of course we do but preferably not as respite from a diabolical performance in the league.
With respect mate, winning Scottish cups with Aberdeen is worthless. The ECWC is the only trophy they ever won worth talking about.

No, winning the world's greatest domestic cup competition has to be experienced. No amount of faux blase diminution of its status wont detract from the fact it would represent our finest hour for 21 years if we were to lift it.

Top half of the table or winning a cup? No decision to make there really is there?

Either or isn't the issue. As Evertonians we expect both. It's not too much too ask to finish in the top half of the division with the apparent squad we have. Well with this manager it clearly is too much to ask.

This is what i mean though. I can see a really great core of players and with a handful more top quality bankrolled by moshiri i think we will see one of two things:

1-- Mid table and fired next season
2-- Hitting top 4-6th ish

Wouldnt it be worth it to see what he could do with his own squad after this summer? If it doesnt work then at least we will have tried it.

I think there is fundamental issues within the management of the team. The squad we have should be competing for Europe via the league - I would be more interested in a full on revamp in the management office (if Martinez) is given another season, as what they are doing isn't working, there is no way to sugar coat it. He will have gone full Rodgers then, but at least the root of the issue is obvious.

I'll be honest with you, i proper full on believe that if he is here next season we will be finishing below 14th - i would be absolutely astounded that if all we done this summer was bring in a couple of players we would finish higher while the main issues of the football club are on show week in week out.

IF and i really do think its a big if, he stays past the summer, if we aren't flying by October - he needs to go. the issue Moshiri and the board have if you bankroll someone with £100million in the summer then sack him someone is left to pick up the pieces and its never good getting a manager mid season.

I am done with Martinez - its become absolutely comical, and if it was another club i would be absolutely buzzing my tits off at them - like we did with the RS after they slipped the title away.

But it can't be bad luck when it's been happening for 2 seasons now. 4 home league wins in one entire year is not bad luck. The manager had a very similar record at Wigan

Last season:
Full backs were pressed nullifying us
Howard
Distin
Barkley
lukaku

not at the races...

this season full backs
howard
bad luck has been a theme

lets see in summer.

Why can't we do both do !

Where did you expect us to finish at the start of the season? I thought 8th or 9th.

Top half progress. Squad on paper, imo top 7 & pushing higher. However after the utter balls up of last season i would have took 7th-9th so long as we seen significant improvement and Martinez showing signs he could learn and improve the massive gaps in his skill set. He hasn't. He won't.

Because we haven't got the squad to fight on all fronts.

Outside the mega funded clubs only WHU have mounted a decent cup and league campaign. Even there though they still aren't at Wembley, and unlike us they didn't have a good LC campaign.

You need a very big squad full of quality.

The squad that bob built isn't good enough. What?

WHU in fairness didn't get the easy draw we got in the LC (only to fall at the first real hurdle.)

Ignore the whole season in a sad attempt to prove yourself right. No one said we have a right to beat Arsenal but at home youd expect to have a very good chance to.

You'd at least expect them to look interested, and show a bit of passion or fight! With the upcoming semi final looming I'd hope the least we could expect is them going out and fighting for a place in that semi final team. Worryingly to me that they don't seem to be!
