You look at the Martinez thread all the time you little tinker! There's plenty posts with no response from the in crowd!

Which martinez thread? Seems like every thread lol

I just skim it usually as after a decent result it adds 2 pages....after a loss 100 pages...bit of a headache.

First season we attacked from full back.
2nd season teams pressed the full backs
3rd season trying to get wingers in the side

Snag is our full backs arent solid defensively to cover the wingers.

Martinez doesn't play with 2 wingers mate he never has.... his system requires at least one full back to press on, especially on the left where he likes the wide man to cut in and be part of the play. he done the same at wigan.

If we win the fa cup Martinez will be ok. However, if we do not and go out early plus finish in the bottom half of the table, e.g. 13-14th in the league, especially when the likes of Leicester city are winning the league, then the board will have to start talking, but I still feel he will get another season, they like him!!

I take exception with the comment of 'this is our biggest game since our last cup run!'.

IMO, its not. The game against Crystal Palace, where we had our game in hand against Arsenal in the race for 4th. That was probably our biggest match in ages. Aaaaaand they bottled it. Hugely.

Losing the game to an individual defensive error?

Same as Wham and Baines against Arsenal....

Needs changes with more defensive full backs.

Did you watch that game? Did you see the utterly lifeless and pointless football we played? Also the Arsenal game the other week? I'm sorry but our problems run far deeper than just "lost to a defensive error"

Mate I'm not arguing your an evertonian we all are! But by doing something as fans or a fan base for what we see as a benefit to this club we shoudnt be branded a kopite or kopite behaviour.

Far far far to much of our fan base is fractured and not in unity.

@Khalekan
I too wouldn't want to be branded as a "kopite" but I fear we are fast approaching if not already at the point whereby the fan base may/does need to make it's concerns heard/seen.

I think actually we are unified, unified in knowing that last season was garbage, this season has been largely garbage with one or two bright spots and that even an FA Cup should not be sufficient to see the manager remain in place.

People - well, one person for sure - will argue/suggest that to dispense with a trophy-winning manager would be an abhorent act... well, I'll stand to be corrected, but didn't Chelski sack Di Matteo after he guided them (whether in a caretaker capacity or not) to a CL title ?

There's such a thing as being cruel to be kind and if we do win the FA Cup then that would sit nicely on the CV of RM... while we thank him for his efforts and move him on in favour of a new manager and hopefully in a more positive direction up the table.

@chazzle_dazzle

Ignoring short term stop gaps i think we have this mid-long term group at the moment:

GK -- ??? / Robles
LB -- ??? / Oviedo
LCB -- Mori / Galloway
RCB -- Stones
RB -- ??? / Coleman
DM -- ??? / McCarthy
CM -- ??? / Besic
LW -- ??? / Cleverley
ACM -- Barkley / Tarashaj
RW -- Deulofeu / Lennon
ST -- Lukaku /Niasse

That with the right additions could look very interesting.

So you think the fullbacks bombing forward isn't part of the tactics?

In that case they should both be dropped for insubordination.

If he doesn't do that then it's a bigger problem in that he's not strong enough to manage the players

To clarify, what i mean is that its not his "tactical plan" or system. Its simply necessity of having 2 full backs who can attack but are weak defensively.

See oviedo in for Baines which was a massive difference and also the move for Byram.

Lets see after the summer transfers....as no way Yarmolenko and Deulofeu on the flanks could be supported by Baines and Coleman....

If that happened i would think he was insane.

Hahahaha, i already think he is there in the crazy stakes mate i think he is massively trolling us all specially when i listen to his presser's

I would happily put money on us (if we signed Yarmolenko), never playing both of them on the wing... as in traditional wingers.

Watched them all...Arsenal was shocking but i read an artlcle analyzing the tactics and it highlighted why we setup and played that way to draw them in before countering...sadly defence and arsenal are arsenal = loss.

Same kind of feel yesterday BUT not a major disaster to lose against those two. West Ham i felt martinez was amazing and let down by 2 mori errors and lukaku miss + mirallas.

Theres a lot of "near misses" this season where mostly howard and coleman habe cost us points or just not getting enough goals (oddly enough)....alot of bad luck as well.

Things could have been much different.

But it can't be bad luck when it's been happening for 2 seasons now. 4 home league wins in one entire year is not bad luck. The manager had a very similar record at Wigan

This is what i mean though. I can see a really great core of players and with a handful more top quality bankrolled by moshiri i think we will see one of two things:

1-- Mid table and fired next season
2-- Hitting top 4-6th ish

Wouldnt it be worth it to see what he could do with his own squad after this summer? If it doesnt work then at least we will have tried it.
